Serious thought here

Is it possible to make a laptop work as a TV to display signals sent to it by my favorite gaming console of choice? I really don't want to buy a TV and a Laptop, plus it would dramatically decrease the amount of clutter in my room.

Thoughts, ideas, answers... rep for help.

Found this nugget of info.

Xbox.com | General Discussion - Connecting an Xbox to a PC or Laptop or a PC Monitor

start reading where it says "Using a Laptop as an Xbox Display"

I'm quite sure all other gaming systems apply.

no it doesn't. all you have to do is get a thing that you plug your component cables into which converts it to a DVI or RGB (whatever your laptop has) when my friends come over i am short a tv so someone just uses my monitor and my friends brings the necessary cables for it

all you need is a video input card... you don't have to take apart the laptop for that... its an express card, thats all... its got a few different cables that plug into one small port and you can choose to run either component, coaxial, rca, s-video, and some have hdmi... not all of them have the same options but if you have a screen with high enough resolution it will work just fine and quality will be good enough... again, that depends on the screen resolution of your laptop...

you only need the card if your laptop doesn't have any built in video inputs though... most don't

thats exactly what i was talking about. the 360 hooks up to the laptop screen and plugs in through the back using either a DVI or RGB cord that you plug the AV cords for the 360 into. it changed the red, white, yellow wires to an RGB or DVI plug
