The truck I traded my F-250 for

Yes, it is a Chevy, yes it's a half-ton and not a 3/4 ton. But it is gas, 4x4, extended cab, and reliable. Not to mention pretty damn clean. I REALLY needed a truck with overdrive. The ol' 250 was not going to cut it on the highway next race season. A C-6 tranny behind a diesel engine does not make for a good long hauler. I didn't want another truck with an E4OD either. Say what you want about GM's and I'll agree with whatever anyone says, but they build just about the best automatic transmissions out there, or at least they did in the 90's and later.

The only Chevy I would ever drive is a Duramax.

Hey, I like my E4OD! Well, at least once I put the B&M shift improver kit to it

Why were you after a gas truck? Just curious, I'm fairly deep in the "towing is for diesels" camp.

Cheaper fuel, lower cost of ownership/maintenance, and I'm not looking forward to tearing down the E4OD that's on it's last legs in my Bronco. They are expensive to overhaul. I love diesels, but I'm racing on a budget. And the same E4OD/700R4 that's in a half ton truck is the same that's in a one-ton truck. The only difference is when they're in a diesel powered truck. Gassers can haul too, just not as good as a diesel...but they can hold their own.

A rebuild kit for a non-turbo 7.3 IDI was over $1500. They last forever, and the parts are priced likewise. This Chevy will do fine for a few years...it's got a strong 350, and the rest of the powertrain is solid as can be. I got a spare 700R4 out of the deal, too.
