i have to write an essay on one of the most influencial songs in the past century. dont know how but fuck the police by nwa and loser by beck ended up on the list. i got beat out on the fuck the police essay so im doin loser by beck. the only problem is i dont have the slightest idea as to what the song means. can anyone help me?

In my opinion, Beck is NOT influential. I would have gone with John Lennon's "Imagine" or something thereof. But eh, Beck? Good luck and have fun. Honestly this song came out during the beginning of indie-pop lyrical styling that make no sense whatsoever. That's the whole point. Artists are free to say whatever pops into their new age heads.

If you want influential i say go with some hippy-esk music, or something of that sort. Beatles are popular, beachboys were pretty influential with there california way of thinking, persuading everyone in the country that california girls were the most beautiful and what not.
