So I think complex math, and more in depth studies should be optional.

As far as the other skills, it always helps to know another trade. If you are a doctor, it is good to know about cars or computers, ect...
One could argue that the practice of complex math can help prefect the total understanding of basic math? Yeah, you might never use integrals EVER, but you know that with in that integration you might have used division 8 or 9 different times as well as some other middle difficulty properties of math that are common in every day use, things like the distributive property and what not. With out the attempt/practice of complex math then you would not be able to polish your basic understandings of the fundamentals.

I think the basics should be necessary. I don’t think advanced math is necessary. I’m in my first year of college and now im paying for math that i must take but im basically relearning things i learned in HS. I forget everything i learn in math pretty quickly after i learn it though. English and other languages should be necessary. Then we move on to history....We go through 12 years of learning history throughout school and then in college i have to take a history class. As far as i no the history doesn’t change. I enjoy Econ, i believe that’s a must. You learn about things today such what a depression is, i always hear people saying we are in a depression which is not true you need 2 quarters of negative GDP. Which would be considered a recession in each quarter. So yea i think everyone should learn another language such as Spanish. Sorry just mad that i have alot of useless classes left.

Point proven for studying higher math. You learn the basics in what, 3rd grade? but yet we study them, and practice them, and use them the rest of our lives. If we don't take time to really pound them into our heads now then will we ever remember them later? I have a feeling that if you were to give me an advanced math book and tell me to study it I have a test in 24 hours, I would do fairly well because I have taken so many forms of math and have done it over and over and over that I wouldn't forget how to multiply fractions or take the square root of a number, in fact I would be able to do it mostly in my head just because I have so much practice.

This can be applied in the real world when your Accounting professors asks whats these series of numbers added up and you have the answer blurted out before he finishes his question. At which point later in life, when your boss asks you to quickly run through your gross profit estimates for the next couple of months with him, based on some variables he gives you, and all you have is a pen and the back of your hand, you won't have to use them, you can just sit down and talk estimates based on things that you already know from your math education you got in college.

I'm just saying, math and english (god i wish i were better with english) should be the only two things that are hard core driven in your brain till you graduate college.
