Opinions on High Points?

I seem to remember people not being a fan of the High Point pistols.

A friend of mine is looking to get a handgun, and the HP 9mm brand new is under $200.

Any reason he should avoid, other than caliber?

It would do this country a great good to sell all our enemies our high points, then quickly invade them.

This is utterly lost on me.

Reading that yahoo answers link sounds like one person who knows what they're talking about, and a bunch of people just parroting that they've heard they're crap.

The one person who actually sounds informed seems to think they're not bad.

Ive had one of their carbines, it was junk. got dirty fast and not verry accurate. It cost me $89 dollars at Blyths gun shop in Valparaiso IN.

No parroting here buddy.

I also have one of their carbines, I don't shoot often or high volume, and I've never had an issue with it. However, I've heard there's a difference between their carbines and their pistols (which is odd to me, as the carbine is just a 9mm pistol with a stock and a longer barrel).

I have a .40 cal pistol. I have not had any problems with it. I would not recomend it for conceled carry but if people see you with this big ass gun they prob wont fuck with you in the first place. people say they would not trust their life with it but I dont know anyone that would stand infront of it either.

I wouldnt pay more than $140 for the 9mm. My .40 cal was $170. If you look around you will prob find a 9mm for $120
