Xbox red ring

My brother called me and said the xbox has the red ring now and doesn't work.

Is there anything that can be done about it without having to buy a new one?

wrap it in a towel... and over heat it for 20 minutes... i did that threee times and it lasted another 3 months... but i just bought a new one evenetually

if so, go on xbox.com and fill out the RMA sheet and they should fix it for free.

can't hurt to do RMA stuff and see if they will just replace it. i would try that before i fork out money for a new one.

mine had the RROD and i got a "new" one for free because of it.

RROD stand for red ring of death btw. gt you are such a nerd...

just fill out the stuff on the xbox website, they send you a box, you mail it all to them (take out your hard drive though...its the thingy on the left side), then they fix it and your happy...until it happens again

alright that pisses me off, they are saying $94 for a repair since it isn't covered by warranty. I'm going to sell all of the games and get a PS3 >:l

When i got my RROD I wrapped it in a towel also, it made it work for about two more days and then did it again.

im guessing you have had your xbox for over 3 years then? because they extended the warranty for RROD to 3 years because of the fail rates. The wall street journal reported that the xbox has a 68% fail rate. I have only had to send mine in once and that was over 2 years of owning it.

if your selling the games, what games you have?

$200 for the P.O.S. virsion that dosent have a hard drive and you have to buy one sepperatly for another $85-130

I can't remember all of them only about 5 games... will probly just turn them into EB games for credit and less hassle even though they dont give much for games anyways...

several football games

Dunno about where your at, but here there are always people on craigslist that will fix it for $50 or so.
