For my own definition, I would say a 'tuner' is a car that is meant to be fast already and is further upgraded, while a 'ricer' is a car that was not intended to be fast, but is upgraded to appear to go fast. Might even say domestic cars are 'tuners' while imports are 'ricers'. This is of course ignoring cars already belonging to a group like muscle cars, exotics, etc.

Ricer -
Fart cans, slaps a turbo on it just for the hell of it, has unmatched painted parts on their car, has yellow aftermarket lights (sometimes pink), or someone who adds a fart can and think their car sounds badass and thinks that its fast. Tuner- Make their car sound the best they can, they get supporting mods for their turbo/sc to make sure they run safely, They actually give a shit about their car. This is just how i identify between the two. Theres more just cant think of it right now

The n/a ones are decent.. Supercharged on i beat in my bolt on prelude... i had..
i beat the same supercharged one in my car stock.. from stoplight and from roll.. havent had an encounter with the turbo ones!! |

When I said attitude of a ricer I ment everyone I encountered with the idea that a supercharger is better then a turbo and it has been proven that a trubo is much better for your engine (more forgiving) and boost control is so much easier. You can call my car anything you want neon or not it took chevy until 08 (3 years after the SRT-4 neon production line ended) to make a Cobalt comparable to a stock SRT-4 "Neon".. But hey, its just a neon.. Its bad that chevy had to change power adders to get on par with a stock NEON srt-4..

ricers are the douchbags who think their econocar with nothing but a stereo system and euro lights and fart can is fast tuners are true import I4 and V6 enthusiasts... I hate ricers, but very much respect tuners... 4 bangers aren't my style, but got to give props when someone can get 400hp out of a I4 |

I went to a MCE meet last saturday and there were at least 4 cobalt ss's out there. None of them were in the 13's. All were high to mid 14's. And track prep and temp was great.
