okay seriously wtf is Folding@Home

its on the ps3 and it's asking if i want to contribute to and support medical research designed to increase our understanding of serious diseases. this research may eventually lead to cures.

what is it? and how would i contribute?

if you load up the folding at home problem (and then upgrade it to life with playstation or whatever it's called now) and just leave it running, it'll perform calculations in the background. So if you want to contribute you can just leave your ps3 on overnight or whatever.

i understand the concept of what there doing, i just dont like the idea of someone using my equipment for things I'm unaware of.....

Wait, WHAT??? WOW!!! Do you know what the number 1 killer for any electronics is?? Its turning it on and off...turning a device on is when it takes most current load. That is why your ps3 is never really off...it is in standby mode.

i know that, thats why my computer rarely gets turned off... i'm saying them using the system constantly like when you have folding running.

idk maybe i'm still not understanding this whole concept
