Well, there are technical definitions needed to call it a "recession", we're just now officially meeting those requirements.

I've heard and seen numbers, Q1 and Q2 had a growth and Q3 had a decline. Show me some numbers that say otherwise and I'll beleive we've been there for almost a year (to be in a recession for a year, would mean there would have to be a decline for almost 6 quarters). A recession is defined as 2 quarters off negative growth in the domestic market place. NOT 6 months but 2 quarters and 1st quarter showed signs of growth so learn some. now, a depression is a Significant recession showing increased rates of negative growth.

i don't see how we are in a recession. im starting my new job Wednesday which is giving me a %46 raise and gas is down to $1.69. if this is a recession i can't wait for a depression

Gas prices aren't what I'd use as a litmus for a good economy, too many things to affect them. As is said in the article, it was just now declared an official recession, after this quarter all of the "requirements" of a true recession will be met.

all Obama would have to do is say he was going to stabizise the countries spending and not raise taxes and walstreet would bounce back. why doesn't he do something so simple? because he needs to tax us to maintain his new programs he is going to put in place. the same reason the no-tax increases number 250k has been dropping steadily i think its currently 100k not sure

i heard he was going to keep with bush's tax cuts if the economy continues to worsen

surely even he knows that increasing taxes will do nothing to dig us out
