I Should Drill For Oil

In my GEOL lab (final lab) today, everyone competed using our knowledge of litholigic descriptions of rocks, stratigraphic testing wells, seismic/fault activity, and other various skills to map and plan an oil extraction policy.

Armed with $700,000, I used my skills to immediately purchase two of my competitors in the class. I used my expanded resources to purchases consulting services and stratigaphic positioning knowledge. I struck it rich and sat on my 2 $1,000,000 wells while my competition lacked the knowledge I had and drilled dry wells, eventually going bankrupt. Later, I purchased all of my competitors except for one, used all of their knowledge, made an additional $500,000, and sat on my reserves while the final competitor bankrupted his self.

Moral of the story: Do not mess with AB99

Haha. It was classic domination by me. I simply raped the entire class. I should have done a victory dance.

That argument is old. I have posted my numbers that led to my decision. Between insurance and difference initial purchase price, I have built my car for cheaper than simply owning a 1999 Mustang GT for the past 5 years.

but if you are running a 14.7 what you have "built" isnt cheaper because it is slower...

I still have reserves, but my hobby now is my girlfriend (and has been for two years). I haven't put money (other than maintenance) in my car in the past two years. Again, the argument is flawed.

For Example:
1999 GT insurance: $300/month (State Farm)
1999 V6 insurance: $160/month (State Farm)
Initial purchase difference: $1,000 (KBB and NADA)

So, for the first two years I saved:
$1,000 (initially) + $140/month * 24 months
=$1,000 + $3,360
=$4,360

and I have put $4,500 in my car.

For the past two years I have saved:
$140/month * 24 months
=$3,360

which I have been spending dating and for other personal uses. If I chose to put $3,220 ($3,360 - [$4,500 - $3,360]) into my car now, I would far surpass a 1999 Mustang GT

My uncle bought a farm about 45 miles east of San Antonio in the 80's. The property had 2 functioning oil wells on it, but he ended up capping them off and covering the caps with concrete.

Apparently it costs too much to pump oil. For one thing, you can't just fire up the pumps whenever you want to. They regulate how much you can pump and for how long.

Also, its not pure black tea that comes out of every well either. Most of the time it is mixed with water, and you have to pay some company to separate the water from the oil, then pay them to dispose of the water as well. They usually do that buy pumping the water into an old spent oil well.

On top of that, you better hope the oil in your well is in fact oil, and not closer to tar in substance... because nobody wants to pay you very much for tar, hardly enough to break even.

This all holds true unless you are a giant oil company; who knows what they get away with.

No.

I was not broken up and would not be. This was an isolated plot of 10k acres. If I was messing with Sherman Act and Clayton Act anti-trust issues, I would have had $Billions, not $700,000 to explore and retrieve the oil.

/Fail.
