Come on now...let's not start one of those..um..conversations. I work with a guy who was Army Special Forces and Sniper Instructor, and he'll tell you that the difference between Army marksmanship training and the Marines way of training are two different things. The Marines teach accuracy. The Army teaches accuracy by volume. Marines shoot at a stationary target from known distances from 200, 300, and 500 meters, and each round is scored individually, and you are deducted for saved rounds. The Army uses pop-up targets at 50-300 meters where your "lane safety" often gives you extra rounds in case you miss the target...or the target malfunctions and fails to go down. When I went to the range while I was in the Army, I never missed a single 300 meter target. I did however do some weed wacking at the closer targets...even knocked a few down with ricochets.

actually we have a new way of scoring. Now we have moving targets and failure to stop drills. 2 in the chest 1 in the head plus the 2,3,500 yard range.
