Handbrake Bypass for Convertible

Is there a way to bypass the contact switch for the handbrake so i can open and close my top at 2 mph in traffic? I had a hell of a time just trying to remove the centre console in my 03 gt and started to fiddle with the contact switch to no avail.

new member - any help is appreciated

Man I'd just leave it alone before your top gets rip off from the wind while you're driving, just pull over in the side of the road and use it if you have to.

I wouldn't do it, I was roll'n the streets with one of my buddies and he dropped the top at just a roll, semi came haul'n a$$ from the other direction and it was enough to rip the top bend the frame, it did a boat load of damage. he was only doing 5 or 6 mph when this happend light had just turned green and he was rolling forward to keep traffic off his bumper. $1000+ worth the damage that quick

screw in a brace that will hold the button down, that should do it

fyi next time u remove the center console, if its a bitch to get off, get in the back seat with the top down, stand up on the floor boards & pull the ebrake as high as itll go, it will make it a lot easier to remove it

then when u do that get some sprayable white lithium grease & spray it on the gears on the ebrake, ull notice a big difference when applying the ebrake if its grown stiff

& Welcome!! enjoy your stay

Ah, if a Porsche Boxster can do it at up to 30 MPH, why can't a mustang? ^_~

if i were you, i would just leave it alone, because in the long run, you're probably going to screw up something and be out a lot of money, but if you have the money to blow, what the hell, go for it bro..

i saw some bmw do it the other day and it was amazing. it was so many different moving pieces. the top went back halfway then the backwindshield slid down then the top went the rest of the way down and a metal cover came and covered it all up. i was amazed
