Hi,

There are a couple MAF based Megasquirt installations, but the majority of them are speed density. The Megasquirt uses a MAP sensor inside its own case, as opposed to the Ford external MAP sensor. The Megasquirt can have its settings adjusted for practically any engine size - we get nearly as many people asking about stroker motors as stock 5.0s.

The biggest difficulty is that there's a lot of options for this car. I'll go over the main choices to consider when planning a Megasquirt installation.

Choice #1: Do you want to build one from a solder it yourself kit, or buy one ready made? This of course depends on your soldering skills and whether you're looking to save time or save money.

Choice #2: Megasquirt I vs Megasquirt II. Either one can work pretty well. The biggest advantage MS-II will have will be that it has more precise injector pulse width resolution. If you're thinking of running giant injectors, this can help smooth out the idle and give you more precise fuel control. If you're running a set of 24 lb/hr injectors, this isn't so important.

Choice #3: Rewire the car vs using an EEC-IV adapter board. Usually I'd recommend the adapter board as it makes installation a lot faster - you don't even have to cut any wires. But if your wiring harness is in bad shape or missing, rewiring may be your best option.

You can email us at websales@diyautotune.com if you'd like to quote us for a package with parts specific to your car.
