Burnout in second gear!

Im runnin slicks and ive always been wondering if i could do my burnout in 2nd! I do it in 1st but it takes way to long to get them smoking since i dont have much gear to get them goin.I could get them spinning at a higher speed so i figure they would get hot faster.does anyone burn theirs in second?

are you talkin about launching or the burnout.I was thinkin about launching my street tires in second gear so i could poss get traction but i never thought about tryin it with slicks! does it help alot? how does it affect your 60ft.

2nd gear is better to use as your able to get the tires spinning faster, its easier to do with a steeper rear gear. dump the clutch around 5000 and watch the speedo for 50-60 MPH for 3-4 seconds and then roll out

that should get 'em nice an hot

^^+1. I did my burnout in 2'nd when I had my Nittos because they need alot of heat. With the Mickeys I do my burnout in 1'st because they don't seem to need as much heat for them to stick.

Yes, second gear is fine when you are in the water box.

The only thing I can add is, if you try it in second and it bogs after a few seconds, go ahead and do your pass. I bogged once and backed up to do it again to get better heat in the tires and it heated up my clutch and made it slip. I should have just gone ahead and ran it.
