Just went to the drags 1st time...

Kinda disappointed. my car has: o/r x, JLT CAI, 3:73's, diablosport predator. First time going up I launched...eh. i felt my wheels spin too much, got a 14 flat. from there it just got a little worse, second time i dropped the clutch too fast, 14.1. 3rd time, my car dropped and the launch sucked and i got a 14.2. I guess its decent for my first time, I really want to work on my launches tho. Also im not trying to make ricey excuses but my tires suck ass. every burnout...i cudnt even make them smoke lol. i guess il just keep practicing :/

with street tires you dont want to smoke the tires, you just want to turn them over a few times to clean them off and thats it.

not too bad of times, what were the sixty foots?

x2 on the 60ft. you'll get better with seat time and passes. My 1st times were almost a second slower than when i got used to the car. But not bad times for your 1st time out!!!

oh man, lots of ET left in those 60' times. I had the same experience when I went...street tires are no good.

My tires piss me off, not only are they street tires but they're horrible streets tires. Luckily the next thing i'm buying is a set of new wheels and tires, gona go all out and get nitto nt 555 high perf. even launching at 2k rpms...letting off the clutch moderately slow, my wheels spun, and i cudnt make my tires smoke, i hate them lol. i'm not trying to make excuses tho, i really do need to practice launching i probably with these tires even shud be able to do like a 13.8 at least

next time try just rolling out of the start slip the clutch out dont dump it. then once you feel like you have the car rolling enough hammer it and go.

not bad times for 1st time with your mods. next time try 2nd gear burn out though, you'll find it should help & if you haven't though about it yet defenately get a line lock. other than that practice & don't be afraid to go to the track on race days ( the biggest mistake I see from new guys) not only does it help your confidence when you go a round or two but the regular class guys at most tracks stay away from test & tunes unless they have a problem/new combo & their the ones that can really teach you stuff.

Oh i wasn't like nervous lol i just felt bummed with myself that i didn't launch better. i was anxious to keep doing runs. I'm probably going this saturday again because I want to do better lol. I have sumitomos...i dont know what kind im not gona go check they suck and all have like...30% tread. i didnt check because i dont care and no matter what they are i know they suck already lol. i really want to get new ones tho, but its not just my tires its me, im gona work on my launch a lot.

You think second gear burnout wud be better? It did kinda bother me that i was sitting there bouncing off the rev limiter like crazy lol

well that and making the car hook. You pull a 1.8 sixty foot and you will easily be in the mid 13's. usually .1-.2 tenths on the big end for every .1 on the sixty foot

I was thinking about getting the nitto 555 high performance...since the drag radials won't last that long im not so sure i want them. wud the high performance ones hook really good too? or are the drag radials like...way better?

I dont know how much you drive (as far as the tires lasting) but I have 315 nitto d/r's on my car 1.9 60' about 300 passes & 1200-1300 street miles & their not really showing any wear. while some will tell you not to run nittos on a stick, I think at your power level they would be great for now.

yes drag radials would let you hook very good and you should definitely be able to pull a 1.8 with them...which would definitely bring you down to mid or low 13's if your 60 ft really was a 2.2
