drag strip results

took my car to the strip today, i figured it would be in the low 15's. but i was very wrong. my first pass though, i did get a 15.5

but after i learned how to launch, at the end i got 13.7 best. that was the 3rd pass, after that, it went downhill. i got 6 passes in today, which is great.

R/T: .458
60': 2.097
330: 5.843
1/8: 8.991
1000: 11.604
1/4: 13.781
MPH: 104.34

i was very consistent on my traps, all were about 103-104. my first pass was 101.

i hard a hard time shifting into 3rd gear. twice it got caught, and the last run it grinded. i don;t know if better oil would help it shift better.

but, i have C&L intake and 93 race tune. so i am kinda happy with what i had. my buddy has a 2002 Mercedes SLK V6 AMG and the best he got was a 13.08... so i don't feel too bad. with my best being 13.78.. and i still didn't have traction in 2nd gear. i need way better tires.

k, you are losing time in your 60ft(it is a decent 60ft but you can run better) and your 2 to 3 shift. Let some pressure out of your tires (to about 25-20) and launch at 3000-3500 until you get better and get better at shifting. The trap time of 104 is good to about a 13.20 flat if you can run a better 60 and get into 3rd.

cool man glad you had fun. Some more track time will get you some better numbers. 3rd gear is a chore sometimes without a CHE k-member brace and torque limiters. Might want to check into those if you get a chance. It will help tremendously.

And drag radials are alway great for the track and usually will pull your et down several tenths. Later,

-Tye

i thought about doing that, but i didn't have a gauge with me. my buddy with the AMG actually took out his air filters and gained 2 seconds on his time. he cheated, but he still did better than me anyway.

Great improvement. These shifters do suck, I would go aftermarket. If you don't want to go that route, practice makes perfect.

That's pretty damn decent considering the third gear shift issues. At least as good as the magazine test results over the years. An MGW shifter will cure that problem with shifts. I had a Triax for a couple of years and couldn't get clean shifts for the life of me. My car was putting down almost 500 to the wheels which didn't help the shifts. When I switched to the MGW it took me a couple of months to get used to clean shifts because in my head was still screwed up from the past experience. With the MGW all you have to do is push the shifter forward and it finds third without any thought.

here's a little bit of pics and a couple videos.

there was a GT500 there and an SRT8 Challenger as well. both cars looked beautiful, i am so glad i didn't get paired up with any of them. i did have to keep racing this guy in his turbo charged 240sx, he sucked so bad, lol.

oh yeah, if you heard it and seen it in person. my buddy said that he saw it jump in the air once when it took off. they didn't post their times, but they were both very fast.
