08 GT vs SRT-8 Jeep

first off this is my first post on the sight and this is by far the best mustang forum on the net. now down to business, the other day i was leaving the gym and ran into an old friend who just bought an 08 Jeep SRT-8 and saw that i was driving my new 08 GT. he then proceeded to tell me how he would dust me in the quarter mile, he told me to put up $100 and to meet him at the track. his is 100% stock and my car has SLP Loudmouth exhaust and the 3.55 gear. preciate the help

Welcome to the site. First of all this should go in the Drag section FYI. Is it a 1/4 or 1/8mile track? If it is an 1/8 he probably has you with his AWD. And to be honest he will be hard to beat in the 1/4 as well.

I was driving a friends mach1... he went 12.67 to my 12.90

yea i think he might have you off the line but however if you did a quick change like some slicks....lol

If you go from a dead stop, than he is most likely going to leave you. Those things are killer out of the whole.

Don't be afraid though, and if the $100 is a big deal to you than just tell him no thanks and offer to race him for fun. If he insists on the money race than just walk away.

Ive seen modified n/a go 11.99 at State Capital before...VERY impressive.

Those 6.1's are no joke w/ traction....

you will get beat...from a dig or a roll. i ran one in the quarter and he ran 13.1 on a slick track when it was still sunny. (50's)...i bet on a stickier track with some colder weather he would have a high 12 time slip...regardless his 13.1 is probably better than you could do...and he also trapped almost 104 so he would probably have you slightly from a roll as well. i mean it would be closer but you still wouldn't beat him.

I had 08 srt-8 jeep. I think you will get beat and heres why

My jeep with 91 miles on the clock, full tank of gas,a couple hundred pounds of junk in the back(I just traded my sss for it that day) on a 53 degree day ran 13.01.

We went back next week and ran with a 1/4 tank,no junk and 400 miles on it and ran 12.87 on a 57degree day.

The next week it had a 100 shot on it and a b woody intake and ran 11.78
Went to a 150 shot and ran 11.41 a few weeks later with a better tune.

Bone stock, these jeeps will outrun any stock/slightly modded mustang.With a good shot it takes a good amount of mods to outrun them.The biggest thing is,on the street they hook as well as at the track.

some guy down here posted a message on my streetfire or youtube account of my 11.46 video and said he races his jeep here as well and we should line them up haha he said he's done an 11.56 or something like that in his jeep. If i wanted a SUV then i'd definitely look into these things.

I raced one at the track. I didnt know wtf it was. it killed me off the line but I caught up at the end. It ran a 13.08
