help at the drag strip
I have a set of BFG drag radials on my 07 Mustang. Whats the best tire pressure to run these at on the track. And is it good to roll through the water and do a decent burn out on them just to get the water off and get the tires alittle hot. Thanks for the help.

You have to play with the tire pressure until you find what works for you. A lot of things effect that its not one pressure fits all. People say between 18 and 12. My best time ever was 14psi. But i have mickeys and maybe a different size then you with a different suspension setup and different driving. Yes, get some smoke on them. Like a 3 to 4 second burnout, but again, see what they like, if it works for you, its right. 4100, second gear drop the clutch hold the brake just enough to keep the car still. Good luck. |

07stanggt has it covered. 14psi always seemed to work very well for me when i ran drag radials...

was curious about the 2nd gear burnouts, with my 28" tall mickeys, will it make much of a difference? I know the 2nd gear will have more tire revolutions, will it be much of an issue to get them spinning to start with though?

i have done 2nd gear burnouts since day one. even without the line lock it was zero issue to get them spinning after rolling through the water box...

Thanks for the help guys. when I had my 89 hatch on nitto drag radials i ran 13 psi. and it hooked real good. but some one was telling me that these BFG hooked best at 35 psi and no burnout. I just thought this was kind of crazy to run a drag radial at that high of psi.

Well i hate to speak on things i have never used. But i agree with you, a drag radial needs heated up and low PSI. There seems to be a few guys like that around though, i know two guys one with mickeys and one with nitto dr's. both of them insist that you dont run low psi and you dont do a burnout on drag radials, only slicks. both of them cut 2+ 60s.

whats a good 60ft time for an 07 gt with cold air kit, o/r x pipe and mufflers on drag radials.

i dont know, bmr has a vid of cutting like a 1.7 60 on the stock pirellis with their anti wheel hop kit. I cut 1.7x 60s on DR's and 1.9X on street tires. Im not the best on the launch though and keep changing my car. I would start a thread in the 2005+ section asking people what their best 60s were. |

with drag radials you should be able to cut a 1.8 no problem

i heard it wasnt good to get the tires too wet in the water box......you start flinging water in the wheel well, which will eventually drip on your tires when you try and launch the car. I ran 25psi on my bfg summer tires and was able to cut a 2.0s 60ft time.....if i actually tried to focus on the launch some more i could probably do a bit better. My best time in the 1/8 was 8.9 @ 80mph.....i suck.

These are some tires
![]() Don't know what kind they are or how much to put in them, but they hook right up for daddy and run me down the 1/4 at 8's naturally aspirated -they break at 100+ if I don't watch it. Case in point, you gotta play with it- really carefully. |
