2850 race trim w/o driver. Still have ps,pw, pb, and stock 13" cobra brakes upfront. Taking weight out not only makes you faster but its also less stress on parts.

Mine still has all the crash bars in it, bumper bars, and power windsows power locks.... all the stock wiring plus some...
once the cage goes in it, I will be taking most of that out and making it so that i dont have anything but power windows. I bet even with the wieght of a chromoly cage I will drop another 50 pounds. And Rev.... This is just what I have experience with... I honestly can see it being true too, because of just the chemistry of a fuel. Do i have any proof, no, but It makes sense to me. I know it would be true with a diesel motor because of how one fires, but a gasoline engine may be different. Who knows

you have a cage in the car it looks like... if it were just a bar I wouldnt, but with a cage, I would not hesitate at all with getting rid of them.

I forgot that I will be doing a tubular A Arm up front, which should drop about 15-20 pounds as well.

Without driver our 06GT weighs 3700 lbs, which is about 200 lbs over stock...a lot of it from the 10 point cage and turbo system. Now that car has been removed from street-use, a major focus of rebuild is weight loss. So far we have deleted ac, sound system....while engine bay is empty not putting back a bunch of stuff, like emissions parts...battery already relocated to trunk, PCM and harness from nose of car also being relocated aft into cockpit area. Goal is 300 lbs loss for next track outing.

Last weekend I pulled the A/C stuff from my new edge Mustang. I lost all of 25 lbs from the front of the car!
The bay looks alot cleaner though and the weight transfer is a little bit better. Took it to the track Sunday and ran consistent 1.9 60 foot times all day in hot and humid weather... |
