drag racing

Thanks if it matters i have an 02 v6 5 spd with, cai, udp, tune, and dual exhaust. Im looking for things like what rpms to launch at and just little pointers. thanks.

For a not highly modified car 2k rpms will be good imo you can go higher if you have good traction=tires, but usually that q can't be answer cuz it depends on the hp, weight, and tires.
The practice is what tells you after each pass.....

for the tree bro leave on the 3rd yellow light, drop your tire pressure to around 25psi and go from there. Put weight in the trunk for better 60', run a higher octaine. Honestly its all practice man just get out there and whoop ass!

You can take your tire pressure down to 20 to 22 PSI for street tires.
I don't know if you have a stick or auto. If you have a stick, bring your revs up and wait for the third light to light. Slip the clutch out as you push down on the gas. Don't just mash the gas and drop the clutch (although with a V6 you might have to LOL). |

You best bet is to go and lean on the fence at the starting line and watch people for a good 20-30 to see what everyone is doing.

Talk to some guys up there too. All of them had a first time once and any time i've talked to someone at the track they loved to give advice.

Remember too, don't burnout on street tires, just a quick spin to clean em off. Stay in the gas all the way through the beams, you should have more than enough time to get slowed down. You will need seat time with a 5spd. Don't worry if you miss a gear, everyone does it from time to time. Just remember to pay attention to the starters and track officials and have fun. Oh, and windows up, A/c off when coming into the waterbox area. It is embarrassing to have your cabin fill up with tire smoke from the guy in front of you. Other than that, read the drag 101 like previously posted and have a time with it.
