Salt Lake City

I would like to get into some amateur drag racing. Does anyone know what some good tracks are? There are 2 main tracks here but when I go to their website it only lists professional racing and my car is nowhere near profession racing. I have a 2003 Mustang GT, these are my upgrades...

75mm Throttle Body Accufab
Underdrive Pulley
K&N CAI
Flowmaster Super 40 Exhaust
Ford Racing Tuner
275 Radial Drag Tires (rear)
245 Fronts
Upgraded Suspension (blue coils)

Any suggestions on what else I should upgrade? I'd like to be able to go to an amateur drag strip where people have lightly-modified cars and there's a small admittance fee and you can just do a couple runs for fun or even for some cash. If anyone has any ideas where this can be done please let me know. Or if you know somewhere near Salt Lake City (or in a neighbor state) where it could be done please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Furious George

Upper and lower control arms along with subframe connectors will get you set for the suspension and in my opinion, to really get power out of the 2V's you have to either go with nitrous or forced induction.

This looks like the only track in Utah lol: Rocky Mountain Raceways - www.rmrracing.com

There's no such thing as a "pro" or "amateur" track. Everyone races on the same track, it just depends on which day you go. Look at the track schedule. 1/8 mi tracks tend to have more amateurs and are more laid back from what i've seen.

How do I go about setting up a forced induction?

Forced Induction is anything that pushes more air into your engine (a supercharger or turbocharger). Supercharger would be the cheaper route and would give you more than enough power. Basically for the 4.6L you need a power adder (nitrous or forced induction) to overcome the small engine displacement.

Look up Procharger, Paxton and Vortech for superchargers and Hellion and Turbonetics for turbos. They aren't cheap. Look up Nitrous Express, NOS and ZEX for nitrous. I listed the brands in order of my personal preference.

One thing that I forgot to mention is that my car is an automatic. From reading around a lot of people have said that a shift kit will greatly increase my shifting and make it so it shifts at the right time and the gears don't overlap. Most people have recommended TransGo as the way to go. I've been looking online and I've found two models that seem to be compatible with my car, the AODE and the AODE-HD2. Which one should I go with? I can't seem to be able to find the AODE in stock anywhere online. I want to make sure that if I purchse the AODE-HD2 that it doesn't disable the Drive mode. I don't want to have to manually shift from gear to gear with my auto tranny. I would like for it to just shift smoother and at the proper time. The problem I'm having right now is that I'll be stopped at a light, I'll slam down the gas to see how fast I accelerate and the RPMs go REALLY high before it tries to shift and when it shifts it's a really hard shift and it usually causes my wheels to spin a bit. Will the shift kit correct these problems and make it so it shifts at the appropriate time? And which of the two kits would perform this?

Thanks in advance,
Furious George

You are right, with an auto a shift kit will make a huge difference. Also, if you start getting a little more into racing look into getting a trans-brake. I'm not really sure which kit to go with (got a manual here). What I have found to be worth while is calling the customer service at Jegs, Summit or wherever you are buying the part. 9 times out of ten you get someone really knowledgeable.

How difficult is it to install a transbrake?
