suspension setup help

Well, I am fairly sure I only care about straight line now, before I was a bit iffy, kind of wanted some handling, but now I don't care so much. I want that drill you into your seat launch, and ill live just fine turning like a safe person in a minivan. Right now my suspension setup is stock - front sway bar, I have adjustable upper/lowers that I have had laying around forever, and then I have a pair of strange 10 way adjustable shocks for the rear im picking up tomorrow. I found some eibach drag kit on craigslist im thinking about picking up this week and am thinking about having all of this done by friday. I was thinking about leaving the front suspension be for now, and just throw coil overs and whatnot up there when I get to it, will that be fine, or will the car be unbalanced due to the difference in wheel rate or whatever as the front is stock and the rear is for drag? Should I just throw the drag springs on the front as well? With everything in the back being adjustable, where do I start, and how do I make sure its done right? Will all of that add up and be noticeable, how hard should I be able to launch with all of that?

I run stock front suspension with sway bar delete. My rear is 4 cyl fox springs, Roush lower control arms, stock upper and stock shocks. My car launches hard, way harder than I thought it would Right now im cutting a 1.70 60' with it. I have a set of strange shocks coming this week and im going to play with them friday night to see if I cant get my 60' down. If you want to leave the front it will be fine. With your back control arms, to start I would measure the ones you take off and set the new ones to that length. Then you can adjust from there. Just make sure both lowers are the same or the rear end wont be straight and could lead to problems

Well awesome news, I got the 10 way adjustable (x2) for the rear for 50 bucks and the guy said he might be able to sell me the front for cheap. He said he gave them to a friend for free but they just sit there doing nothing. I have read things about making the lowers uneven for better launches. Something about getting different springs for left/right, or putting an airbag in one side, or just adjusting one side to sit higher as a way to preload the one side so it helps keep a flat and even launch as the squat isnt parallel anyway. I was actually more curious about proper adjustment of the uppers along with knowing for sure what the best adjustments for the shocks are, its not like I can sit at the track all day and practice my 60ft, so I was wondering if there is another way to properly dial it in. What tires are you using to get 1.7, that is my goal, I just want to be in the 1.7s anything more is awesome, but I am just wanting sub 1.8s

The uppers is what you adjust for better launches, you adjust the drivers side for your pinion angle and the passenger side for your preload. And yes you could put a bag in the passenger side rear to help with body roll to the right from the torque, I had one in and didnt notice a difference when I took it out. Right now im using Hoosier Drag Radials, next year I will be going to an all out slick

so should it be a big difference going from completely stock suspension - front sway bar to upper/lowers, and adjustable shocks? I know those help, but will they help a lot, where you know it was worth the money, or just so/so?

If you hit the track before and after the suspension work, I feel you will notice a big difference and be happy with it

Well I haven't hit up a track yet, and don't think I'll make it for a before/after. Should that setup be good for 1.7s, or am I lacking power for that?

They are in garage, just the usual 2v mods, intake, exhaust and 3.73s with 275 nitto 555Rs for tire. I have never been to a track so I have no idea where I sit.

To be honest I dont even notice its not up there. Under hard accel I can feel the front raise a bit and right rear sqwat but that also has to do with my springs in the back. I dont take sharp corners at high speeds so the sway bar delete doesnt hurt me any

You might be able to cut 1.9 60's with it. I run 4.10s so thats an advantage on my 60'. A good set of tires will help lots. Get ride of the Nittos if you plan on running on the track a lot. I would get a dedicated set of rims with either good DR's or slicks

I don't plan on going to the track too often, I have a 1/8 near by and then a 1/4 is a 2 hour drive or so. That is why I got the nittos, just something better than a normal tire. I seem to do ok off the line, compared to similarly powered cars, so I would hope I could do better than a 2.0 with everything done.

Well my ipod says I was able to cut a 2.2 on 245/45/17 nittos, and im doing better on these 555Rs. I haven't let the pressure out too much, just calling it good at 20psi for when I try, looking at the tire, obviously I have plenty more to take advantage of. These seem more forgiving, im launching about how I was on the old tires, but I am able to let out of the clutch and get into the throttle a bit sooner without them breaking lose as easily as the old ones. My best (according to my ipod) on the 555Rs is 2.15 from 2500rpms, but I know I have launched harder than that, by how much more I don't know. I know there is a difference between a track and a clean road (though never been to a track) and that my ipod is not a track, but it is there for curiosity. I have been told that there is more traction at the track, so you know... I have hopes and goals. I know that my goal is the 1.7 range when im done with my car, I still have a blower laying in my room waiting to get thrown on. At a glance, it seems like with that power + some suspension work, I should be able to reach my goals as long as I can drive.

Not bragging here because I know it's nothing special ...

I consistently cut 1.9x 60' times on my Nitto 555R 315/17s, with my best being 1.8x on a really good day (NMRA 2009 at Atco when the track was very well prepped and the temps were perfect). I know there are better tires for the strip but the Nittos are very good for daily driving. I'd love to try some Welds with Mickeys sometime.
