LCA's will help with your launch. also some 18's with drag radials on the back will help a lot too. same with a tune. you get all those a practice some more you'll be around 13.5

Congrats on track time!!

Worst/Best part... its over.

FWIW, my car runs 13.3's w/ street tires...

Drag radials and seat time are your friend.

ya the street tire issue is probably also a big factor... i didn't want to burn out or anything before my run either since this is my daily driver. what is the best way to launch an auto? i didn't brake boost any but i heard that some do, and I had the TCS on during some runs and off during others...

leave the traction control on and do a little break boost but not so much that the tires spin. just enough so when you let off and floor it you launch a little quicker

^Nah, leave the TCS off, if you start spinning then the car bogs.

That car is a dog off the line because you have those heavy 20 inch wheels and 3.31 gears.

If you have the stock wheels, then you could put those back on and see your time difference.

You'll need to experiment with your launch technique and keep a log to see what works and what doesn't.

Try varying your tire pressures in the rear too and see what helps.
Air your front tires up to 40PSI too.
Take your rear tires as far down as about 20PSI and see what happens.

From your video it looks like you had a nice clean pass but you might try to leave a little bit more aggressively. Sometimes a little tire spin = quicker ET than no spin (it's a fine line and if it were too easy it would get boring IMHO).

What I do in my Mustang is turn off TCS and the overdrive. Shift it to 1st and just go from there.

DON'T manually shift the Auto, you'll end up running slower.
put it in drive, turn TCS off, turn OD off, and launch around 1500 RPM

does brake boosting really help a lot? i would imagine that would make the wheelspin worse...

the auto trans in these cars is 100% computer controlled, leave it in drive, the computer can shift it much faster (& the car will run the best, period) than you ever could. bottom line, leave it in drive, o/d & t/c off. also you'll benifit ton's from a tune/tuner as the trans can be adjusted in a bunch of way's for more performance (ie. faster, firmer shift's, etc)

are there any upgrades available for the stock auto besides a tuner? my buddy had the valve bodies upgraded in his 350Z and it shifts real hard now without a tune... anything like that exist for the S197?

there are shift kit's/ etc avalible for your trans also, but not very wide choice as most guy's switch them out for 4r70w's when they get serious as those tranny's are notoriously weak. I'd just clean it up a little with a handheld tuner (you'll need one anyway) & leave it alone.
