Am I doing it wrong or is my car just this slow?

I went to the strip with my car recently and was very disappointed with my times. My best was a 14.1... any pro-tips for dragging an auto GT, or reasons why I sucked? too embarrassed to go back lol... btw this was at Firebird Intl. Raceway in AZ.

Have you gone before? Or was this your first time? Yea the 20's there wont exactly help, but i think you could get high 13's. Just practice more, or get a blower

ya that was my only time going to the track. the car felt real slow on launch, like it had a hard time hooking up.

that doesn't sound quite right but it could be I guess. you'll need to practice some but in the end if your worring about being slow (your word's not mine as I think your doing fine) your gonna need some upgrades. I agree though, don't worry about what people think, most people with the opinion "hey your cars slow" are clueless & usually know nothing about cars or racing.

20's aren't helping here. That's a lot of weight to get moving, and it's in the worst possible place it could be in terms of accelerating from a standstill.

get your rt down it seemed like you were sleeping there.... got mines down to .005 but over all a good time. maybe drop your psi a couple lbs in your rear and that will help with your hooking.

reaction times don't matter unless your want to beat the guy next to you. if you just going for personal times you can sit at the line for 5 seconds before you take off. it won't count against the qtr mile time. i've been to firebird with my car about 5 times now. some nights nobody can stick on the track and some nights are good. my best time is 13.6 with lowered suspension, LCA's, intake and tune, and pypes mid mufflers. don't feel bad because i went in august and ran a 14.0 all night lol. practice makes perfect.

And i believe firebird is like 1200 ft above sea level. so that will slow the car down a bid too. a 14.1 is technically a 13.9 or so at sea level.

haha that makes me feel a lot better about my time then... a lot of people were complaining about the track that night, but I really didn't know how to judge for myself if it was good/bad. I'm lowered in the rear, so I'm thinking LCA's would make a big difference...
