Temp effects on ET?

So... gonna head to the track either this week or next and see how this tuner changed my 16.8 1/4th.

Last time I ran it was hot as fuck, now its quite cold. This High Wed when I plan to run is going to be 51 and the low 27. How will cold temps at that level affect the ET on average?

Plus... I know you can't give me a good idea, but if I ran a 16.8 with a bad reaction time what do you think I could expect with a Tuner and the cold?

2003, V6, Auto, CAI (lol), Dual Flowmaster 40s, Street tires, SCT X3 w/ basic setting changes (shift pres, 93 oct, ect.) and about 50lbs less weight in the back?

Here is food for thought when its hot/warm the motor don't run as good and the tires hook good. When its cold the motor runs much better with the denser air but the tires don't hook so good (talking street tires)

And just a FYI Reaction time had nothing to do with it.If you have a .001 light or a .600 light your going to run just as fast, Basically all a R/T tells you is if you out treed the guy next to you giving you the advantage to get from point A to Point B before he does.

Every "100" Pounds is good for a Tenth of a second and equivalent to 10hp

Did you actually weight the things removed or are you just guessing its 50lbs?

If its for sure 50Lbs you might see a gain from 16.80 to 16.75

I would say with Everything stated you should be in the mid to low 16s.
If your trying to get that thing to move Gears are gona be your best bet a nice set of 3.73s and what you have listed should put you well into the 15s

Ya, gears are deff high on my list atm. I am guessing 50lbs. I am gonna remove my subs and spare before I head down there. Gonna try out diff tunes as well since I can make more than one pass.

Weight reduction is gonna be 2 12" subs, 3/4" MDF Sealed box, and spare. The car has a RSD as well.

Plans are 3.73s, Posi, UDP, and a Windstar intake then maybe the J-Mod for the tranny. Hope that can get me into the mid - low 15s at least. I was considering getting some drag radials as well just to help with hook/traction.

Gonna take a good while to piece all this together tho Lol.

Bein conservative:

Speakers: 12 pounds each ~ 24lbs
Box: 35lbs
Spare: 25lbs
Spare cover/Trunk lining: 14lbs

98lbs less weight than my 16.8 run in 100 degree weather, plus a new SCT X3.

I could remove my passenger seat... wonder how hard that would be. Leather is 38lbs. So say 30lbs for cloth? would put me at 128lbs less.

This is SO true! I have always run the best ET's in cool, dry weather, not whn it is close to freezing (we'll.......as close as it's going to get in fl)

Its getting up into about the mid 40s during the day here. However the passes start at 6pm, so it will be dark and at 6pm I would think it would be down to low 40s high 30s.

I am hoping for a 16.5 or if I am lucky a 16.4 1/4th. Will be a decent upgrade for simply weight reduction and a canned tune.

Temp & Barometric Pressure are the biggest factors.

Cool temps & higher pressure will give better times

Its cake to remove the seat, Slide it back and remove the front two 15mm nuts and then slide it forward and remove the back two 15mm bolts and pick it on up out of there. If you realy wanted to be tricky you could take out the drivers seat as well considering it more weight and put the passenger side seat on the drivers side it will bolt right in and you would be dropping the 48 lbs of the drivers seat. Just a thought.

The Rear seats are also easy to remove the bottoms pop out and the tops only have a few bolts holding them in.

I will prolly take the passenger seat out atleast. The rear is already gone (RSD). Like I said, I simply hope for around 16.5 at least.

well, when i got my SCT tuner it dropped my 1/4 ET from 15.44 to 14.86. That's all i changed no weight reduction or anything. Maybe the SCT tuner helps more with the S197's but i think you can run faster then the 16.5 your hoping for.

well...you should be good for 16.5 Zat...i have only run the 1/8th around here because the 1/4 is over an hour drive away...but using a race calculator my 1/4 should be 16.77 with no weight removed and stock...

if your tuner makes as much of a differance as it did to my car ( which is basicly the same thing) i see no reason why you coudlnt be in 15's

Still hoping for a 16.5 tho... anything below that will just be that much sweeter.
