Need some advice

Greetings all. Got 2 issues with my '67 Mustang I need some help with. Any advice is appreciated.

1) MAJOR hesitation off-idle, but then pulls real well through 6500rpm. Should I lean out the idle mix screws?

2) Some oil out the breather caps. Should I put a PCV valve on the pass side, plumbed to the vacuum port on the carb, then cap/tee-in the driver side?

Best slip to date is 14.691 @95.22mph. I think there should be more in there though.

Many thanks! Engine details at bottom.

First, what is the cfm is your carb? Do you have vacuum secondaries? When you put the hammer down, try to notice if you have black smoke comming out of the exhaust, If there is you may have too much fuel. Seccond, Your idea with the PCV valve is how I have mine set up, Alittle oil is normal, Third 6500 rpm is high, try to shift allitle sooner 5000, 5500 you may be out of your power band @ 6500 especally if your running points, they may be floating.

i know in some cammed cars, it is not MAJOR hesitation, but they will stumble until they hit the powerband.

Usually in that case the torque converter is kicking in too soon. That is why it is important to match your cam with your torque (or stall) converter... But in eckertd's case, I think it's just tuning.
