03GT Vs Challenger R/T
My Boss's son just went and bought a Challenger R/T and I was wondering how it compares to my mustang in the 1320. I have a GT with the 5 speed manual tranny with an MGW short throw shifter. Performance mods are the typical bolt on's, it has a JLT ram air intake,70mm bbk throttle body, trickflow plenum, steeda underdrive pullies,o/r x midpipe with a flowmaster 2.5" axle back exhaust system and 3.73 gears. His car is bone stock and i'm not sure whether he has an automatic or manual transmission. I know that challenger has more power than my car but it also weighs a few hundred pounds more than mine also. The odds of us ever racing are slim but it's nice to size up the competition every once in a while. As for my shifting abilities I grew up around driving a stick so I have alot of experience and i've gotten good at powershifting my car. I don't have any timeslips with this car yet. I was planning to take it to the first track day at our local strip till I learned last week that it's shut down till someone else buy's it so that plan is on hold for the time being.

I've seen bone stock 6spd r/t's run 13.8@102. But I haven't seen an auto version at the track yet but they shouldn't be much diffrent. It should be a close race.

Don't our new edge GT's run around a 14.0-14.2 bone stock with a good run through the quarter? 13.8-14.0 is a dissappointment for a car with that much power. Weight is not on that car's side. What do you guy's think my car can run? I was hoping to get between a 13.0-13.5 with a perfect run at an elevation of just a couple hundred feet above sea level.

supposedly the auto runs a better quarter than the 6 speed. i personally went a few rounds with a 6 spd srt8 challenger and would consistently lose by about 1-2 cars. that was when i was strictly NPI, bolton, 4.10 geared. fwiw i ran a new edge with the same mods as you, and he moved away quicker than the srt8 did. and my buddy went 13.77 in his 2000 gt, o/r x pipe only, on 245 general uhp's at 2.0 60 ft.

I think you have a very good chance to pull of a win here. I will see if I can round up a vid from Woodburn in Oregon. with a friend of a friends gt. It is a stock Chally R/T, manual vs. a 02 GT 5 speed with a tri-ax, a pypes cat back, and a CAI (not sure of brand and tune), sticky tires and the 02 ate it up. The chally guy missed a shift the first race and lost by a lot. But the second race was closer, i am sure 2 1/2 -3 lengths.

As far as I know both the 5.7 and 6.1 use the same block which would explain the minor weight diffrence. There only being a 10ftlb diffrence could be in the tune and be a result of the car using the same size stroke(I think it's the same crank) in both motors. Of far as ci advantage your talking a mere 14 or so diffrence which isn't that much. Now if it was a 350ci to a 383,396,408 or in that area where it gained 30 or more cubes then yeah 10ftlbs wouldn't be squat.
