1st time down the 1/4 with the mustang

im headed to MIR this friday night to see how the new car does. ive never driven a rear wheel drive car on the track, but ive raced down the 1/4 many times in my old focus.

what times do you guys think ill run? im hoping to get a better time than i got in my focus (13.6@103mph w/a 2.27 60' - 11psi fswerks turbo kit, regular street tires, tons of wheelhop) but i will be happy if i get into the 13s.

right now the mustang only has...
-pypes axle back exhaust
-J&M lca's

I'm not sure if you'll beat that 13.6 on your first pass if you're not use to driving a rear wheel drive car down the track, but after you get used to that Mustang you should definately be beating it. We have a guy with a stock 2010 in our club and he was running mid to low 13's. He might have had some DR's on, but I'm not sure.

dont worry bryce ill be tryin as hard as possible to beat you! lol.

i just gotta work on my launches. i can shift the car fast, but launching without too much wheelhop is gonna take some practice.

That shouldn't be to hard. I've got a buddy who put a jlt cai,pypes cat-back,tuner,lca's,dr's and then took out his passenger seat,rear seats,spare and Jack. His best pass was a 12.95@108

^ hes makin about 20-30whp more than i am though, plus he'll be about 100lbs lighter and with DR will get a 60' time .2-.3 seconds under mine.. for every .1 seconds off your 60' its about .2 seconds off your 1/4...

oh well we'll see what i run tomorrow night

Um I've been to the track a few times I know the math around weight,hp and 60' by heart. I wasn't refering to your car as is. I saw you said you were aiming for your buddys 13.52 and was simply saying it should be really quite easy to beat a 13.52 with minor mods. As for the way it sits your looking at a 14.0-13.7 depending on just how well you can drive it. My buddys best time with just mufflers and street tires was a 13.88@101 and full weight.

sorry didnt hit up the 1/4 mile track bc i had to babysit my sisters kids....

i did go to the 1/8 mile track though on thursday.

im still dialing in my 60'. and i hate that i have to shift to 3rd about 3mph before the end of the 1/8th.

best trap speed was a little over 80mph

best time was...

60' - 2.178
330 - 5.941
1/8 - 9.003
MPH - 79.81

i know i can get around a 8.8 with more practice launching. im just getting used to launching a rwd car.

btw the track is sumerduck in orange, va. its slightly uphill. and you HAVE to drive through the water pit.

Yeah, you need to bring that thing out to MIR or Capitol. Judging by that time you would've been on your way to a low 14, maybe a 13.9. Get that launch down and I could see you possibly beating the Focus.

Yeah your 60' is killing your time. Get that down to a 2.0 or better and you'll easily run 13's.

yeah thats what i was thinking.. i didnt lower the tire pressures at all which ill do at MIR. and i didnt launch it that hard bc im use to not launching hard in my focus (having already broken an axle)
