Went to the track last night...
Not as good as I thought. Pretty bad actually. I recently did my full coil over setup and expected to be into the high 13's even on my street tires. My best run out of like 8 was 14.112 at I think 98.60. I will grab the slips later when I have the energy.
I averaged right around 14.350 at 97.50 with a 60ft time of right around 2.2....something is not right here. I was leaving at 800-1000 and even tried leaving at idle which is about 600. ![]() The track wasn't prepped very well because everyone's times were pretty bad. But still, with my mods, I thought I would for sure be high 13's. I know I need a tuner, tires, and lcas real bad, and gears would sure help too. |

Those times are about right for your MPH. You just aren't making much horsepower with a trap speed of 97mph. I was at 99mph when my car was stock and running 13.8's on street tires, so you have something to compare to.

Our cars suck naturally aspirated, especially on street tires.

What's the altitude for where you're at? Try launching at 2000 but pedal it, don't dump the clutch. Not bad at all though.

Definatley get 4.10's. 4.10's for an auto from what Ive heard is the best thing to do.

your only mods are exhaust and a throttlebody -- both minor power adders in the grand scheme of things. My guess is you're somewhere around 235-240rwhp. Maybe 250? As others said, on street tires 14.2 seems about on par for that trap speed. Gears and tune will give you the difference you're after, and if you can find an intake & plenum cheap that would compliment the whole setup.
I ran a 14.2 with my 2004 GT (5 speed), completely stock on all-season tires, for comparison. Last edited by _Red_Rocket_; May 16th, 2010 at 09:50 PM. |

Hes definatley not ay 250rwhp. Id say probally 230-240rwhp.
The fact that hes an auto hurts him. For horsepower, at the track he should do better. If he really wanted to get that thing into the 13's. Go 4.10's, 3,500 stall and some weight reduction. I ran a 14.02 @100.6mph when I was bone stock. Just a B&M Short Throw. Pretty cool to have a bone stock 2V trap at 100+mph

your right about where you should be with your mods, most likely wouln't see 13's till you do gears. I also 2nd JayC, the coilovers will not help you, if anything, the why you have yours set up so low, they will hurt you.

That's my issue with the Focus. I built the suspension to handle the twisties so it's stiff as hell. Therefore I get lots of wheel hop and torque steer trying to go straight ahead. With a softer suspension, a LSD, and slicks, I could see my Focus running a 13.10 @ 105mph rather than the current best of 13.52 @ 105mph.

Sorry about the double post...got tired and forgot. Yeah, gears and an SCT Livewire 3 are definitely on the list of things in the near future. It's my DD, I just dropped a shit ton of coin on the suspension, my fiance would have my ass on a platter, and I really don't want to loose mpgs with gears.
However, I know I need a tuner. It would significantly help my times and make my car run a hell of a lot better. Mid 13's are pretty conceivable with some supporting mods. Dammit I need gears....ahhhh!!! |
