Spin em with street tires or don't spin em?

I have ALWAYS wondered this, I know if you got DR's or slicks you should spin them, but I don't know about normal old street tires. I have heard mixed answers on this, I have been told not to and i have been told to do it. So which is it? lol

you just want to rotate them once or twice to clean them off. honestly i doubt it will make a major difference either way.

I tried both methods at the track. And neither seemed to work really. It is more how you pedal the car off the line. I could not get traction at all. So I recommend just going and driving around the water to prevent water from dripping on your tires.

Then try a couple passes. If you get tire spin, trie above spinning them once or twice to clean them off. If that don't work then try different launching techniques.

You want to just spin them over quick to get rid of any loose stones or debris and AVOID the water box.

Traction isnt really a problem off the line, I maybe spin them for a foot or so when I launch but its not rediculous. Just wanted to know if spinning them would improve my times at all. Still finding little things that lower my time (like taking advantage of the stock 2k stall converter) But everytime I have ever gone to the track I always drive around the water box/burnout box whatever you want to call it lol.

Spinning street tires won't help you at all, they are a totally different rubber compound geared more towards longevity and slower heat cycles than drag radials. By spinning them you're actually making the rubber brittle and reducing your traction. If anything you can make a few passes and let them heat up

probably true with most tires ^ but not the sumitumos i used to have

spun like a mad man when i didn't heat them up...next run i roast them and bog because they hooked so good. kept doing it ever since then and those things hooked every time...

Stay out of the water box. The treads on your street tires will drag water to the starting line negating any effect (if any) of roasting them.
