Launching 2nd gear?

So i've just bought an 03 cobra a few months ago, and it is night and day differance between my 97 cobra...well it got me thinking, does anybody ever launch in 2nd gear down the track? I'd imagine that it's not good for the clutch nor rear, but just thought i'd ask

Lol why the fuck would you do that? You answered your own question, not being good for the clutch/rear

ha you ever take an 03 cobra out to the track and you'll see why i asked that. The amount of wheel hop and horrible traction will suprise you, it's a whole different car, i had a 97 cobra with a P1SC, about the same hp as my cobra now and it is like night and day

Yea like F8L said, thats cause the IRS sucks for drag racing. Putting it in 2nd gear will only fuck your car up more. Swap to a SRA

either swap or upgrade the IRS with the braces and bushings to help it prevent wheel hop. To much hop and you will break your half shafts

yea i put in aluminum bushings a week ago and lowered it, hopefully it makes a differance. It's a dd not a drag car, i'm not gonna rip out the irs for a solid axle, wheel hop sure is annoying though

Why do you want to avoid the solid rear? You could probably find someone willing to swap with you and throw in some money.
