How realistic is it to run 7's in the 1/8th N/A?
Like the title says i would LOVE to be able to bust a 7.99 or faster in the 1/8th. I have never been to a 1/4th track but go to the 1/8th quit a bit. I have about $2,000 worth of stuff sitting in my room to go on it as soon as i can borrow my fathers garage. I have not even sprayed it on the street yet lol im still having fun driving it on motor, and also i wont use the spray till i fix my lean spike issue so when i go i will be N/A. Here is what i will have done to it when i go to the track.
Power 285 WHP 315 WTQ Wheel/tire/gear Skinneys up front with 15x8 5 star wheels in back with 26" hoosier QTP's, 3.73 gear Suspension Laurel Mountain FLSFC's Torque box reinforcers UPR solid/spherical brg lower and upper control arms Weld in UPR brace for the axle tubes Axle tubes welded up Tubular K-member Tubular A-arms Poly motor mounts 14" 150LB coil overs Strange 10 way adjustable struts and shocks Stock clutch ![]() Weight No quad shocks No front sway bar Rear carpet and liner removed No jack or spare tire Taking the passenger seat out when i run it too Taking the back seats out when i run it too The only 2 cars i know of that have done a 7.99 or lower N/A with only a cam or less is Trevor T Sprink and F8L. I know with the mods it can be done but how reasonable is it that it could run that?

It took me around 340rwhp to break into the 7's with my setup. Did 7.48 with 400rwhp.
Gonna take you a high rpm launch and plenty of traction, but it can be done.

The only thing that i am iffy about is my stock clutch, i have ran about 50+ pounds of nitrous through the motor and have done a few 4th gear line lock burnouts and never felt it slip before though.

It's probablly not gonna to hold up to many 5k launches. My brother had a 99 with zoom clutch that held up nice.

you need at least 4.10s and a little bit of weight reduction

How much do you think i will shave off with no passenger seat (have cloth seats), no backseat, tubular front end, no front sway bar, and a few minor things? I weigh less than 150lbs too.

about 3100-3200 race weight and a good driver mod along with the 4.10s should get you there.

with more seat time you may want 4.10's, but be patient, gears are cheap, but the experiance to use them to their fullest takes time. your doing fine & are on the right track! keep asking questions & sorting out your combo & you'll be putting us all to shame here soon .

I have a 31 spline rear already and 4.56 would be way too much on the spray, i choose 3.73's b/c it will be better suited for the spray. Thanks Casper i cant wait to get all my stuff on my car! And also prove to my friends they are way off with what they think my car will do at the track. Some of my friends are saying it will run 8.7-8.8 on motor and no better and will be very lucky to break 7's with the spray lol i know il do better than that just need some track time and to get my car done already.

![]() what RPM's do you normally launch at? the reason i'm asking because my buddy had a mach with a built rear and 4:30 gears and he would launch at 3500 rpms. all he had was a short throw shifter, cai and o/r xpipe and finally talked him into launching higher 6k rpm launch and his 18" saleens up front almost came off the ground and ran a 8.0 he was riding on 15x10 mickey's out back. |

my car with N/A 260rwhp, 4.10's and nitto 555's pulled a 8.7 1/8. so with your power and more weight reduction and a good tire, you should be low 8's for sure.

yeah 8.7 would suck BALLS with what you have. i ran 8.8 with only a muffler delete and short throw.
8.7 with x pipe and gears...in much warmer weather. you should be at least low 8's

Yeah hope so, i might swap out my 3.73's for some 4.10's idk yet. On a side note i just sprayed my car for the 1st time since the dyno tune and cams and it felt pretty good i guess, could not really tell how fast it was since it just blew the tires off of it as soon as the nitrous hit in 1st and 2nd. I could only feel it pull in 3rd from about a 60mph roll and even then it turned over the tires for just a second then hooked. Cant wait ta feel whats its like to hook in 1st with some sticky tires.
