Went back to the track....again

I went back last night for another go around... Got a new best N/A time, and 2 new best 60' ers.

First run, great launch great 1-2 shift, missed 3rd gear. I came out with a 1.72 60' time, we won't talk about that e.t.!

Second run, another good launch and got a 1.701 60', 8.38 1/8th @ 83 mph, and a 13.047 1/4 @ 106mph!

I was really expecting to see 12's this time without the nitrous, but alas, I went ahead and turned on the juice. I'm thinking there's still something wrong with my system cause I can feel the nitrous "surging" through 3rd and 4th gears... My best nitrous run tonight was a 12.5 with a 1.90 60'. I've gone faster with slower 60' times, I just need to find the problem with the n2o and head back.

Nice times.I can't beleave you didn't break 12's with that low of a 60ft and that high of a mph.My best 60ft is just a 1.71 but on my 12.99 run it was a 1.75.

I'm thinking maybe the 1-2 shift was a little harsh on the tires, I plan on focusing on that next time out.

Oh yeah, my tire pressure was at ~25psi... I have a digital gauge that the batteries were going dead in so it wasn't reading correctly. I wish I would have known better and dropped the pressure down to about 20ish. I think that would have helped out a lot.

This kind of baffles me. I have run mid 12s NA on old hard slicks with 60' times around 1.79x. The 106 is enough mph for 12s and the 60 certainly is. What kind of tires are you running? You are getting a good launch so it doesnt appear to be your tires. Are you powershifting?

The tires are m/t et drag radials. I just started doing a longer burnout this last time at the track, and that seemed to work a lot better. I was really proud of my 60' times, and really expected to get 12's. I am shifting really well, except for the 2-3 shift. I seem to have problems getting into that gear at full throttle.

And the 1-2 shift I lost a good bit of traction and that's after the 60' marker so that is probably where I'm loosing a lot of time... I've still got the stock wheels, no light weight wheels yet. Maybe that would help out some.

Yeah about 20psi is the best for those tires.Do you have any suspension work done? Also all of my runs have been with stock wheels with just 245/50/16 nitto 555 dr's.Your probably losing more in the 2-3 shift then you are the 1-2.

All stock suspension right now. I am however looking at UPR's tubular front k member set up. It's really nice looking, heard a lot of great things about it and it's less than $700. I think with a couple of local friends I could install it at home. They also claim a 70+lb weight reduction off the FRONT of the car!

If you can afford it Griggs is the best out there...

Griggs Racing

I ahve NEVER heard anyone complain about Grigg's work...NEVER...They are the best of the best IMHO...But they are not cheap at all...

MM is another good alternative though...Also haev not heard anything bad about MM...

Maximum Motorsports

Another good one is the D&D K-Member

D&D homepage

Hope this helps you bro...I have been doing some research on them and these 3 are the only ones that i would go with...

I helped a buddy install a tubular K and tubular A arms on his Mach last fall. It went on without out a hitch. It is a mod I am considering for my car.

If your talkin about 20 psi in the ET street drag radial, thats not the ideal pressure, Id drop it down starting at 16, and go down as low ast 13-14 until you find what hooks best.

I've always heard that with the drag radials that low of pressure (15-16psi) could actually cause the tire to "cup" on the bottom. I've heard a lot of people say to stay above 18psi.

I tried goin lower on my nitto's (from 22-18psi) and i lost more traction.I raised the psi back up to 21-22 and gained it back.It will cup the bottom of the tire because it has stiff sidewalls unlike a slick with soft sidewalls. It's just like not running enough air in a regular tire.

Went to the track again last night. I'm just not happy with that place right now....

I did get a new best in the 1/4. A 13.02 @ 106.92mph... I'm just that far away from 12's... Funny thing is on that run I had a lowly 1.888 60' time.

How messed up is that. I get a .188 slower 60' and a .2 quicker 1/4

The rest of the night was a bust... I couldn't get a decent 60' to save my life. I even got a new pressure gauge to check the tires, and compered to 3 other gauges to be sure I was where I wanted to be. The first, and best run of the night I was around 17psi. The 60'ers just got worse from there so I decided to put a little air back in them and that didn't help any at all.... I'm going for suspension parts next week, somebody tell Crazylegs to get his credit card machine warmed up!

Once again, your mph and 60s should be good enough to get you into the 12s. More seat time and you will be there. You could also get a set of slicks and you would be there. I wouldn't recommend them unless your rear is built though. Since I have gone to them, I consistently run 12s.

I went to the track as well last night. It was Prostreet night and got very busy. I got there early and hotlapped a couple of times. Ended up running 5 times by 8:30 and helped my buddies work on their Quick Street cars the rest of the night.

My best time was 12.7 @ 108 with a 1.702 short time. DA adjustment was 2898 feet for a corrected time of 12.29 @ 110.95

Where do you get the DA #'s from and how can you equate them into new times?

You need to go to Modular Depot : http://www.modulardepot.com/density.php You will also need to know the elevation of the track and weather data which is available at the bottom of the page I linked here.
