Nitto's
I already have a buyer lined up to take the Pirelli's off of my hands, and I am going to start drag soon. I was wondering what the best nitto is out there for racing.

in your case the best Nitto would be a 555r

The Nitto 555R's hook up pretty well at the track, and last a good amount of time for street/Daily Driving. In my turbo car, I've gotten consistently high 1.6 60's.
The NT05R's are an awesome tire, are comparable to a Mikey Thompson ET Street Radial (the new tread design) as far as hooking at the track, but the wear life is the same as a Mickey. If you drive your car on the street often, the NT05R's will last you maybe 6 or so months. EDIT : The Nitto 555R's hook up well, not week LOL Last edited by 01Sportchic; March 19th, 2011 at 09:50 PM. |

first of all because the o/p has a v-6, that said, the 555r's will hook well for him & also be a good d/d tire so he wouln't need 2 sets of wheels/tires, he'll be fine on the 555r's for all his driving needs.
as to the nt05r's, from what I have personally seen they are inferior to a M/T dr at the track & don't do well in the rain or for milage, so their a loose/loose in my book.

![]() I've heard they are similar to that tire pictured. But when you remove tread pattern and use a softer tire, you are going to sacrifice wear time and traction in the rain. :/ |

They will only be driven on the track, with that said are the 555's still the best bet?

while you don't really need "track only" wheels & tire's, if your going to go that route, then more info on the rims you'll be using would help, but the easy answer is that if you insist on changing the tires at the track, then just get full slicks & be done with it.

Casper hit the nail on the head. If you're going to swap out tires anyway, go full out slicks. Drag slicks are easier on your drivetrain anyway.
