Well I don't know what to expect but those 20 inch wheels are going to slow you down tremendously. Your gearing will be alot Higher and the weight too. I don't think spinning will be an issue. Just gun it and go.

As far as tire pressure, you won't see a big increase in traction by lowering the pressure on street tires. They're designed to run at 30-ish psi, so I don't believe you'll gain much by lowering below that.

On street tires, you'll want to drive around the water box if you can. Give the tires a quick spin just to get them cleaned off (if you can...not sure if you have the power for that). Once you're staged, mash down the brake and bring the RPMs up until the car feels like it's about to creep forward (not sure what kind of stall is in a v6, but you'll probably want to bring it up to 1500-1800 or so). Release the brake on the third yellow and mash on the accelerator. If you spin (which I doubt with those heavy wheels--even with an open diff), be less aggressive with the accelerator on your next run.

Every car and every driver will be a little different. It just takes seat time to figure out how to best launch your car.

Hey man I just had my first day on the drag strip Sunday, also v6 auto with CAI and 93 octane tune. I ran a 14.83 on my first run and 14.9's the rest of the day...although I was spinning a bit on every run. One launch I just sat there spinning and didn't move anywhere (lots of smoke, some embarrassment

All the 14.9 times I did what everyone has said, mash the brake, engage the tc till it locks up (around 1600rpms for me), on third yellow take foot off the break and gun it. This caused me to spin a bit on each launch. The first launch (14.83) I probably had only around 1100rpm, but being my first launch ever I was a bit nervous and didn't pay much attention to the details. Just feel your car man, and make multiple runs till you get enough practice. I desperately want to go back this weekend and see if lowering my rpms helps me stick to the track.

ALSO...the tune I had at the time had shift point set riiiiight before I crossed the finish line, so my new tune will keep me in gear that extra few 1/10's of a second to get me across without losing time shifting unnecessarily. Something you may want to check out too...I'm hoping for consistent 14.8's and maybe even lower down to 14.5 with a nailed launch??? I'd love to run my v6 with older model stock GTs

tracks are great, jus ran my first track last weekend and had a blast! yeah waterbox with street tires sucks! i had to roll thru it at Richmond Drag, then i just burned em to try to dry em off. basically same thing everyone else said, practice till u launch right, my launch was killing me (04 GT bolt ons+cam). i ran a slowest of 14.2 spinning at the line, and a fastest off 13.68 when i got her to hook pretty good, atleast the best i could with bald street tires. your times will fluctuate no doubt being ur first time. so dont get upset if u run slow times, i was about to until i ran a 13.8, then it was all on!

ur 60ft is wat makes up most of ur run, i mean think, after 60 foot, u pretty much do the same thing every run, same shift points etc. its the launch that is gunna make or break you.

Drive around water box, dont go through it. Just spin your tires over for a couple spins just to get some sand or anything off them, dont need to do a huge burnout, it will be just a waste of money burning off the tires cause its not going to help you.

anyone ever had problems with slipping/spinning when they removed weight near the back tires? next time I go I was gonna try removing spare and also have ~1/4 tank gas (had nearly full tank last time) but I'm worried about spinning on launch.
