2002 mustang gt vs new 5.0

I have a buddie that has a friend with the 2011 5.0 and all he has done is a cai, headers and a tune . everthing thing else is stock. and my mods are is garage on here and it will throw down 404whp on the dyno. gone borrow 315/35/r17 mt and ice aftercooler and put 20 or so psi in rear tires and head to the strip today . ither way im going to the track with or without him cause he doesnt want to bet 300 he wants to bet 50 i told him if he is gonna call me out he is gonna pay 300. Its just fair. So reckon the new 5.0 gonna get me .

Gonna be close if he has little track experience you should get him, espically if he is gonna be runnin street tires. Good luck

ran against a 2011 C/S it ran 11.5 in the 1/8 on street tires no traction i think u will win if he's on street tires just cause of the traction issue

i agree it will be close. better hope you can drive cuz it doesn't take much for those 5.0's to be nasty. with the mods you listed for the 5.0 it wouldn't take but a set of decent tires to hit 11's in the quarter mile

w/404rwhp and some decent driving the OP should be able to beat the '11 all day long.

Should be, but how many 400rwhp Mustangs on here run mid-high 12's? which is stock 5.0 territory.

uh, have you seen the numbers those cars are running with JUST bolt ons and a half decent tire???

11's at over 117mph...not out of range at all for 400rwhp but he is gonna need a good tire and a good launch for sure. no cake walk is all i'm sayin.

remember, the 5.0 the OP is talkin about is NOT stock

Yeah, I see them at the track all the time.
I don't sleep on them, but usually take them down.

that was with all things considered.

if the o/p isn't even serious enough about taking his car to the track to have a decent set of wheels/tires for it & the best he can come up with is a 17" d/r from his friends then I seriously doubt that his et's will be anywhere near the h/p potential of his car.

by the sounds of it it's another high 12/low 13 unprepared high h/p car.

These do not run 12.2s bone stock.

Sorry guys he wouldnt do it and i wouldnt go down from the 300 dollar bet . i went to the track and they were having light problems all night . So they just shut it down early in the night and didnt get to run anything . But when i go home to alabama ill race in atmore ,al and find me a 5.0 to run . and the guy with the 5.0 his car is now in the shop getting a kenne bell sooooo wont be running that guy .
