Was wondering how many of you guys go to tracks that don't allow street tires to run in the groove? My local track has stopped allowing street tires to run in the groove and it's basically pointless to go to now. They put a cone in the way so you can't line up into it, and yell at you if you move into the groove after launching.

To get an idea, I spin through 1st and 2nd gear if I launch at 1500 rpms feathering the clutch...

although I don't remember any particular track banning street tires, the reason behind it is because street tires tear up the starting line & makes more work for the track crew.

you need better tires on a stick car anyway, now's the time/motivation to step up & get them.

I guess so. It sucks though since on the street I can launch at 2k rpms and spin for half a second then hook and go...and at the track outside of the groove is just aweful.
