02' GT Vert vs. 06' MS6
Anyone ever raced one of these Mazdaspeed 6's before?
from a dig or a roll? A buddy at work just picked one up over the weekend and has been taunting me all day about wanting to race... I know the MS6 is 100% stock... AWD with 275hp/280ft.lb's of torque from the factory and rolls a 6spd manual. I'm riding 100% stock except for a BBK CAI Anyways... test and tune at sunshine is this wed. so I "MAY" just go ahead and accept his offer to race just to see what happens but I'd hate to lose since he's a punk and would definitely talk some shit t'ill no end... lol as always thanks in advance for all reply's/responses! |

watched a few vids on Youtube on my lunchbreak and it seems like it's pretty much a drivers race.... however... I couldn't find any 100% stock vs. 100% stock videos.
Honestly I think he's too much of a punk to really launch his car properly to beat me from a dig and from a roll depending on the gear/mph I imagine I may win based off of overall torque and lack of drivetrain loss vs. that 4cyl having to turn that AWD system? |

I think you'll take him. MS6 uses the same motor that's in the MS3, but it's a good deal heavier and has more drivetrain loss.
Maybe it's a more interesting race than I'm giving the 6 credit for, though. Go forth and tell us how it goes, lol.

Let us know how it goes.
Guy here in my town has one with aftermarket BOV, exhaust, intake. Fairly good driver, and it doesn't impress me much. Goodluck. (=

But it didnt impress me at all. The guy I knows car looks good as well. Wouldnt ever own one though. Definetely wouldn't ever pay the price for one.

If I ever move back to snow country it'd be on my short list as a nice sleeper alternative to a WRX or Evo, but other than that, I agree.

I've never really seen one in action other than on youtube... I have driven a 2011' Mazdaspeed 3 and it was nice once it got spoolin but I imagine the 6 would be a little bit slower after the initial launch with the loss of the drivetrain directing power to all 4 wheels. without launching it hard I imagine it would kinda bog off the line?

I've heard it's harder to launch AWD cars, I'm not sure. If it is then you can try and get him out of the hole and keep it up until the end, Make sure you get a vid, and good luck!

i raced one stock with a BOV.. i had CAI, sct programmer, and pullies, mid pipe and weld in flowmasters and from a dig he didn't pull on me into after 100 before that he was at my back bumper. i also had my 220lb cousin in my car. launch it good. they have pretty good top end. if anything he will start catching you at the end. should be very close.

** UPDATE ** ( or lack of... lol)
haven't raced yet or anything... he was real cocky at first but for some reason has lossed alot of interest in wanting to race until he "does work to the car" I doubt he will do any work to the car and is just stalling or something but I would atleast like to see what would happen! |

I'll bring it up to him again... Kinda sucks because I was anticipating the race as much as everyone else was that came to read this thread. Hopefully there will be a video to post up sometime soon... either way I keep my camera in my car at all times so if it happens it will be documented. =)
