here is my issue

decided to go to track before i got my slicks, can you say big mistake, have pretty much every bolt on under sun except turbo or s/c or nitrous, but to my surprise, i was constantly running mid to low 14's, even tried a 2nd gear launch, can you say horrible, i can, my 0-60 foot times were 3 seconds, but finishing up at 104 to 107 mph, ready for the insults, just venting!! slicks are installed now!!

lol, that night was a waste of money. A couple of my friends invite me to go to the track and run with them sometimes but I dont go anymore cuz of lack of traction. I wish I could afford dr's or slicks right now.

Good luck on your passes with slicks! Let us know how u do

I take it you already have upper and lower control arms? Becuase those times I would guess you had it held together with string...

Slicks will help but I hope you ahve the pocket for new axles because you might need them soon...

Your trap speeds say low 13's to high 12's. I doubt your tires could really be that bad. Just get some more practice in.

Well i knew that was coming!! I am probably going tomorro nite again, and i dont have upper or lower control arms either, the wheels lite up basically the whole first and second gear, thats why the times are so bad!! if i really sucked at driving that bad how would my speeds at the end be 104 to 107!!

you're not necessarily a bad driver. you probably need to feather the throttle more. When I make a pass I feather the throttle a good bit half way through first and then I put it to the floor. Try that maybe and see if it helps u out.

Trap speeds don't define a good driver. If you were to get somewhere around a 1.9x 60' time your speeds could possibly drop, but that doesn't make you a bad driver either. It's the E.T. that will define what kind of driver you are, the speed pretty much relates to what the car is capable of.

Good post.

Better traction (ie 60' times specifically) will probably lower your trap speeds a bit. However, you should be able to get into the 12s with a 106-107 trap and 1.7x - 1.8 short time. With slicks, those kind of 60' times should be expected.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

You won't break a driveshaft. You may snap an axle if you shock the driveline with a high rpm launch. I have not seen any GTs do it but have seen several Machs snap stock axles on drag radials.

yeah, I was gonna advise u to not do any high rpm launches, unless you have another ride as a daily driver

Umm yah you're going to break something. But I've heard some older draggers say if your not breaking anything your not fast enough. Just make sure you have enough for a tow truck.

I'm going to say keep the launches around 2000-3000.

lol, u should call the AAA auto club and sign up for their PLUS package, I did the other day.

It includes up to 4 tows a year - first 100 miles are free per tow - first year cost $96 and $76 every year after that. They also told me the package includes discounts at auto parts stores, restaurants, theme parks, etc

Ha ha, now that's funny, i will and luckily my parents house is only 5 miles from the drag strip, and luckily i do have a daily driver too, so it should be funny, but i think i am gonna have to invest in stock in the rear axles, i cant wait to see what happens, and with slicks eh what the hell i might try a launch at 3500 or 4500, and see what happens!!

Thanks at least i got a laugh out of this!!
