rearend moving

Question is...
When launching hard at the drag strip, will the rear end move backwards on the body?
A few guys were talking about it and got me wondering who was right?

Edit: it is a 89 Foxbody with currently stock suspension besides adjustable lower control arms.

Sounds confusing the way I phrased it all, so read careful.

Thanks for any help

No, the upper and lower control arms hold it in place relative to the body. It probably has more side to side movement than front to rear.

It depends on the angle of the LCAs at rest. If the arms are angled down, then under compression the rear end would shift rearward slightly. If the arms are parallel to the ground, then under compression the rear end will move forward slightly.

I would think of the two, you'd want the former for a number of reasons that I'm feeling too lazy to type out at the moment (and is substantiated by the number of relocation brackets that move the axle-side LCA mount downward).
