01 cobra vs. 2011 v6?

Hey guys I have an 01 cobra as you know, and my friend wants to race me at the track of course with his 2011 v6. who has the upper hand or is it really just driver mod? I have a C&L intake and exhaust work and he is bone stock?? So what do you all think?

He sounds so confident that he will beat me, i know he is bone stock and that I have more Hp and torque then him so Idk y he thinks his car is faster lol. Am I missing something?

I think it would be a close race. Just looking up stock times on a couple sites show the 11 6er at around 13.7-13.8 and your Cobra around 13.5ish. He is obviously heavier. I think you would win, but it is close enough that if you fuck up, he would probably beat you, but I think it is your race to lose.

Does he have an auto? I've driven an auto 2011 base, and from feeling it vs my 01 Cobra, I would say you definitely have the upper hand.

The variable cam timing in his v6 will give a flatter hp curve, but you are the clear winner in torque. So just don't fuck up your launch and you should have it.

You should be able to edge out. Lose some weight like spare, tools, rear seats and passenger seat lol. Get a video!!! You guys going to Bradenton 1/4, Sunshine 1/8 or Gandy mile lol?

he has a manuel, i havent driven in it yet lol he told me he doesnt want me to drive in it till we race

I wouldn't get cocky but you should be able to outrun him with a decent launch and shifts. I guess your buddy heard about the new v6's hanging with GT's and thinks he has a drag car now.

01 cobra has more trq you got it IMO. those times are bs mosta the time a bad driver can f up a wet dream just like those sites and motortrend says the 2010 camaro ss runs low 13's I have seen about 20 ss camaros at the track and 95% of them are 14's. My point is the odds of HIM running 13's are unlikely even though the car may be capable I doubt he is a professional driver like those sites show.

The ones that run 13s are the Trac pac option with 3.31 gears. The ones with 2.73s or whatever are running low 14s. Find out what he has. Either way, you should be able to out run him. We can have some fun at Gandy in December.

lol to bad he doesnt know the difference really between a 01 gt and a 01 cobra he thinks its just a little faster, and he is being the cocky one
