Nitrous tech discussion inside
(wasant sure where to put this, mods feel free to move if nessacary)
So I found this book 'the nitrous oxide handbook'. it is on my list of things to get however I did go through the sample sections online. it brought up an intresting point, a 3rd way n2o makes power: 1st: chemically introducing oxygen to combustion 2nd: the low boiling point causes liquid n2o to rapidy decrease intake temps and the THIRD: the nitrogen that is left from the separated oxygen during combustion is inert. though it is inert the temprature of combustion causes the nitrogen to expand rapidly, therefore increasing cylander pressure, therefore increasing power. this brings up a point. I have always assumed that when a n2o system is activated becouse you are adding more oxygen and feul to a motor of the same displacement EGTs would skyrocket. I have never actually put and EGT on a nitrous motor. however this third fact lends to the theory that nitrous oxide could actually STABILIZE EGTs. firstly becouse you are maing the air comming in colder and secondly even though nitrous is 33% oxy it also becomes 77% inert nitrogen during combustion. the reason why I came to this hypothosis (not pigeonholing myself believeng anyting is true or false until I see it) is becouse EGT systems on cars operate for the purpose of lowering combustion temps (exasut gas is near inert). lower combustion temps = lower egts. any thoughts?

Depending on the tune up EGTs should stay the same or have a very slight increase in temps, but if the jetting is correct you should see little change in EGT temps

yeah when they tell you the shot the company is either telling you that based on a calculation based on the jet size or what you will actually get at the wheels on a given car.
so you may run a 100 shot through a stock motor and get 100 at the wheels. but then add in supporting mods like exaust and cams and now that 100 may boost you 120 or more becouse of your more efficient setup. also becouse of the cooling effect n2o has on the air in the intake mani spraying boosted apps can give you a completely diffrent number all together with the same 100 shot. also n2o will give you more torq becouse that 100 (or whatever) shot can be injected at any rpm(that your motor can handle). not like boost where the added power is more rpm dependant. play with a hp calculator and see what happens to the torq when you add 100hp to a given setup at 4000rpm vs 6000rpm.
