I went to the races last night

for the first time in 3 years, i only got to do one run i ran a 13.9 and then they told me i had to have a helmet.
i thought it was 12 and higher that you had to have a helmet?
well anyway i had a terrible reaction time and no traction on my shitty sumitomos, but me and my friends just went to have a little fun not really set any records.
i'll post my slip in a little bit if anyone wants to see

oh and also my car number was #69

Yeah, anything 14 and under you need a helmet. I would run through the rules before you go next time.

Post the slip.

If you can get that 60' into the 1.XX, you should see 12's.

How are you leaving the line? Rolling off the clutch and on the throttle? Dumping the clutch? Are you spinning?

Honestly I can't do too much for you over here, but .1 drop in a 60' is usually good for .2 or .3 at the end of the track. Can you remove a little weight too? I might try it.

dumping the clutch and yes i spun alot through first and second, are burnouts any good when it comes to street tires ? i didn't roast the tires, i did do a quick spin, but i imagine that wouldn't have helped too much

I have nitto555r's on spare wheels. Their are better dr's like mickey thompsons but the nitto dr's are much more streetable than the rest last up to 15k miles and they will more than sufficiant for you at your current level.

IMO, roasting street tires doesn't help. Go around the water box and just a good spin to clean any dirt/debris off is good enough.

On street tires I got my best times leaving the line just off an idle and hitting the gas just hard enough not to lose 1st gear. Best 60' time of 2.04.

Your shift points make a BIG difference too. I couldn't get lower then 14.3 when I was shifting at 5600rpm. A friend of mine has a program to maximize power output if you have a dyno sheet to chart your power curve. On his advise I changed my shift points to 6100rpm for 1st & 2nd, and 5800 for 3rd, and posted my best time of 13.88@100.7 on streets. He runs a 13.4@104 in his '98gt with 10 less rwhp then me with the same 60' times. He has 4.10's I have 3.73's.

Being a 'vert I get kicked off for a 13.49 or lower, no cage. So I bought some Nitto NT05's for 1 last trip before the end of the season in the hopes of besting his 13.4 and getting booted but that didn't happen.

Just putting dr's on didn't help me at all. I know I was trying to hard but I got stuck in the "hook too hard and bog, or hit it too hard and spin" rut. Never cut a better 60' or my 13.8.

Because of that my best advise would be to go with other friends that you can hit up for advise. I was alone that day and like proof reading your own writing, other people can see the mistakes that you don't.

One last thing I just remembered. My tech inspector seen the dr's and was asking if I had driveshaft loops. He let me thru but it's something I wanted to check on.

I had slick 18" Sumi's and almost managed a 1.8X 60 foot, but some regular 555R's will do fairly well.
