Cocky SVT owners... =P
Used to be friends with a guy who owned a 99 SVT cobra, until I started modding my gt and his ranting began. According to him 2V's are always slow and mod for mod are always underpowered compared to his 4V. I got sick of his bickering after months of just listening and called him out, no he won't race either. Just wondering how much room everyone thought he had to trash talk. They run 13.9's with 300hp on paper compared to our 14.1 with 260hp? His best time was a 13.5 with tune/intakes, I haven't ran mine yet but I think I could hit a 13.7 or better.. If white venom could give some input it would be much appreciated, thanks

He may be cocky but he's right. I'm not saying all 2 valves are slow, there are some fast ones but mod for mod a 4 valve will usually gain more power. Have you ever raced before? If not, you won't hit 13.7. I think with your car a 13.7 is in ideal conditions with a good driver. You'll be mid/low 14's probably.

Think so? Well I'll do my best to settle it this week and get back with results. Even if he wins, congrats he spent $14k and I spent $4500 on mine.

99 cobras leave a lot to be desired in the drag racing dept (ie. shitty IRS & weak trans), that said though, with the minimal mods to both cars, he will be faster.
mod for mod the 4v will generally be faster with mild bolt ons but once the cars are into the low 12's -high 11's, the 2v will start to even the gap & will be thousands cheaper to build from there on.

Main diff I saw wrong with them as well Casper, the IRS is by no means useful for drag but if I get left on the track it wouldn't be a huge surprise.. He's already hit a 13.5 but his last 2 times at the strip he hit low 14's. Btw how much slower are the verts? His friend has the same setup now but convertible

'verts are generally a tenth or 2 slower model for model, mod for mod.

Damn those cocky svt owners lol, but in all seriousness the 4v does prevail over the 2 valve, but once the heavy modding begins you will have the benefit of the doubt beings it would be cheaper. Throw a cheater shot on the car and shut his mouth lol

Thanks for the solid info Casper, heard people say half a second before and I was thinking that's unrealistic haha. But yes I like 4V's, just not his mouth. Personally I would only trade up to a termi or put a termi swap in mine, the rest don't provide enough of an advantage over the 2V. Btw question 99/01 cobra 03/04 Mach 1, same engine right? What's their hp ability on all stock internals?

Oh. Also he hit the 13.5 on stock gearing. He has the 5 spd with 4:10's now and hasn't hit better than a 14.1, he admits he doesn't know how to drive wih the gears yet.l

he'll need slicks & a bunch of IRS work if he plans on hooking up with 4.10's

if he learns how to drive he should have no problem pulling on ya man. My GT is 4 valved swapped w/Eaton, IRS and auto. It is a flat out monster. A buddy of mine with a full bolt-ons and P1 Procharger can't keep up at all. Keep in mind my Auto owns him.

![]() along with a gear upgrade, you pretty much better count on needing a tire/suspension upgrade to follow if you want to be able to get the use of of a lower gear ratio. with that being said, if you gave him a run with his 4.10 on street tires and you had at least some DR's you should be able to come in under his 14.xx mark. i got a 13.9 on Kumho all-season my 1st time out with basic mods (exhaust, udp's, tb/plenum, jlt) hoping to be much faster with my 4v, 4.10's and Nitto 555R's

All you need is:
4.30 rear gear Drag radials (preferably on 15 inch wheels) and last but not least, the driver mod. With drag radials you could leave the line on the rev-limiter. (That should be fun).
