drag day...failure
we had a track open up about 4-5months ago(county line drag way 1/8)
the most unorganized place in the world. anyway, ive gone a few times but it just keeps getting worse i was there for 4-5hours and ran 3 times.... my first 2 runs i went up against 6second cars(1/8mile so 10seconds in the 1/4) i spun like a mo fo im guessing i dont even fukin know. the cars were so damm loud idk what i did or anything i couldnt tell. so finally my last time around...only took me a hour and a half for that to fukin happen. the guy was gonna set me up with a Iroc that was running low 7s so i told him...no no no....he went to my window we argued for a lil cause i was pissed that every time i raced...i raced against a guy that was a shit ton faster then me and would almost lose control and hit me. so angrily he walked away then set me up with a z28 or an SS im unsure it had no badges....i thought it was stock so i was like w/e at least its only a mid 8second car i get to the line and he purges his nitrous... since the burnout box is 4feet away from the starting line...i still slipped... he smoked me with a high 7 pass.. and i ran a 10.11 and just decided to leave this track has 5 different fuckin lines...bikers on the side(seperate from the 5 lines) along with 4wheelers....the come back road is about 5-6feet wide...enough to barely fit your car basically this fukin drag strip sucked to begin with and now its getting worse....anyone else been here? i took out my front sway bar to see if i could get a benifit from it but i have no idea if i did my first run was 11seconds....like 11.01..i couldnt hear shit with a huge turboed 6.1 seconds buick next to myass.... that actually strip isnt but maybe 3 lanes(street lanes wide) has concrete walls with horrible lighting, stands that you feel will break any seconds. they let tow trucks run.... is anyone else drag strip this shitty?

As bad as Orlando Speed World is your track seem like a nightmare. We have 3 sets of lanes bikes, street cars and race cars.
Bikes aren’t that bad, fairly quick except for when occasionally it take 5 people to get a motorcycle down the track? I now they are fast and they have hardly any protection and everything has to be just right but come on you don’t need your family and the family dog, physically on the track. Speaking of dogs please leave them at home. I like dogs. I own a dog but I really don’t want to run into your pit bull in the staging lanes. Seriously how fucking stupid do you have to be to bring a dog to race track. Street cars usually run incident free except for maybe an accident which hardly ever occurs. Trucks are in with the street cars. I don’t mind the trucks so much unless they should be on a 4x4 course instead of ripping up the track. Oh and please stop revving your turbo diesel engine in the staging lanes. The race cars shouldn’t even be on the track at the same time as the street cars in my opinion because 90% of track delays are do to them. There is this guy with a Chevy truck he’s a regular at the track. This guy couldn’t make 2 passes without spilling something on the track if he’s life depended on it. One time a guy blew his tranny just past the lights and proceeded to drive down the whole ¼ mile at about 1 mile an hour spilling tranny fluid the whole way.

yea i hate shit like that
they should find a way to organize it like street cars one day and race another or different times some drag cars like to do about 3 burn outs and each about a minute long..then take forever to line up

I haven't seen too many of the reace cars take an extremely long time to get their run finished. There is the occasional driver that comes through with a new set up or has never driven a car as fast as the one he/she is in now. Those are understandable. I think most of the real racers here know to get their runs done as quickly as possible, because surely someone will break and oil the track or it'll start raining out of the blue!

Lately the track has been crap. And it happens to be the only times you don't go Jon. But lately it's been GOD AWFUL.

If it's happening when I don't go then it's gonna be ugly for a while up there!

At our track I usually get 4 on a normal night.
$15 to race, $10 to get in to watch.

That sucks brah. I tend to go to an 1/8th mile track down in NC and it is actually very organized. I pay $20 for the night and can get anywhere from 5-12 runs in a night. I went the week before my wedding and got 7 runs in with taking a 2 hour break in the middle to watch the other cars racing.

My dad and I took my '67 Mustang out to Englishtown NJ on Saturday the 14th. They have most Saturdays spilt into 2 sessions: 10am-4pm, 4pm-close with different programs set for each session (Corvette Challenge, Mopars, etc). A Test & Tune tech card is $30 on Saturday (good for 1 session only), and typically you only get 3 passes before the session ends. But, that day there weren't a lot of cars in the lanes and I got 2 passes and my dad got 3 in.
Friday nights are $24 for a tech card, and you typically get in 3 passes, unless there's lots of folks there or folks break and oil down the track. I had our best run of the day at 15.34@92mph. Still about a second and 7mph off, but we had fun!

Wow, I feel fortunate. It is $15 on test n tune Friday nights. Racing from around 7:00 - midnight. They have prostreet brackets one friday a month and beat the heat (high school kids vs cops) one friday a month. Other 2 Fridays are open. I have only been once this year but went on a prostreet night. Got there right as the gates opened and teched in around 7:00. Hot lapped 6-7 passes then the brackets started around 8:30. Ran one more time and put the street tires back on and watched the rest of the evening. Even on a crowded night, you can usually get 5 runs in if you stay til they close the place down.

US41 Dragstrip in Morocco, IN (Which is closed now due to some issues, hopefully they will be back soon) I can literally get as many runs as I can fit in from 5-10pm. They are open Wed,Fri,Sat,Sun for Test & Tune. $25 to race. Spectator pays like $12 I believe.
Route 66 Raceway here in Joliet, IL I can get 3 if I'm lucky. The track is packed and they are overpriced. You pay $40 to race. Spectator still pays $15. Great Lakes Dragway up in Union Grove, WI is extremely fun. The burnout area is a little oddball and the track is short, but who cares, it is one of the best track atmospheres I have ever been in. I believe it was $38 to race. This night was Diesel Drag Competition. The whole day was 3-11pm and I went 16 times at my leisure. Visiting Cordova Dragway in Cordova, IL on Friday. Still have to try out Byron too. |
