First time to track this year.....

Lol.....well I finally made it to the track this year after trying to get my clutch replaced along with my new short throw shifter, tires and tune. Boy was it horrible. Not even close to what I was expecting but a lot had to do with traction. I made two runs. Keep in mind I have on street radials(255/40/17) and stock suspension. Stayed out of water box. First run launched at around 2500 with wheel spin like no other in first second and spun third a little. I was still impressed that my trap speed of 106.23. By the way the guy next to me had a big block chevy put into his late model camaro ss and his trap speed was only 105.83. But he was runnin I think M/T so he was up on me right outta the box. But my friend said that once I shifted into third, he saw me really pulling on that chevy. Second pass I decided to try the inside lane since everyone was having better luck hokin up. I feathered the clutch taking off without wheel spin. It actually worked until I full throttled it and basically spun first into second and grabbed third. Second pass trap speed was 107.97 so I guess I know that I probably could've hit high 12's. Timeslips posted in my garage. Well this goes to show that with power comes responsibility to put it down to the pavement. Let me know what you guys think.

Better tires ftw!

Good speed at the end of the track there. What are your mods? Also, keep in mind that when you gain traction you're gonna loose 1or2 mph at the end of the track...

What do you mean by losing 1/2 mph as I gain trac?

Mods:

Vortech V2 SQ
90 mm Lightening MAF
75mm PP T/B & Plenum
Spec Stage 2 Clutch
Steeda Tri-Ax S/T
BBK cer. equal lengths shorties
Flowmaster 40 ser/2 chamber
Flowtech off-road x-pipe
SCT tuned chip

As far as rims and tires, Im prob gonna eventually upgrade my rims with a stagger set up with 10 or 10.5 in the rear so I can put on 315's. But deniro's got me waiting for a while.
Another thing I noticed before cleanin my tires off was that there was an excessive amount of water in the water box. I practically ran the safety guy over tryin to get into the box. He looked at me thinkin I was crazy of somethin. With all that water the cars before me with slicks brought a whole bunch of water in the staging area draggin their front tires. Thats why for the second pass I knew that the only way I was gonna have a chance off the line was to feather the clutch and try to get trac right off the bat. Oh well I guess I'm not too disapointed.
PS: I iced the intake on the second pass due to humidity in the air running at about 65 to 70%.

If your spinning at the line on launch then you will build up more speed at the big end of the track. If you car just squats and tears out you won't be at the same mph when you cross the traps. I don't know the physics of it but I know that's what happens when you get traction.

Lol.....im sure what your saying might be true but I still dont understand the whole concept. Its cool though. So what do you think my trap speed wouldve been if I had trac?I was thinkin between 110 and 113 assumin that i lost between a sec or 2 with wheel spin in first and second.

I don't think you lost 2 secs with the wheel spin. Probably closer to 1.5 or so seconds. If you hooked hard and no wheel spin you should see close to a 12.8ish. Any idea on what kind of rwhp your making?

I'm guessing here but with a 12.8 and good traction you should be around 105-107... That's what I have run without the nitrous.

Well my last dyno showed 360hp to the rear wheels but I have since had fresh fluids from front to rear, changed my spark plugs one cooler gapped at .034, shortened my intake pipe by a couple of inches and upgraded to a more efficient power pipe. And I don't have a definite boost number cause I don't have a boost guage but the s/c kit was supposed to put out between 7-9lbs but with power pipe should be between 8-11lbs. So Im guessin between 375 and 390hp.

Are boost gauges not important with S/C? I know I won't drive my WRX without one in case of boost spikes and such.

Its a good thing to have a boost gauge but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Actually I don't even think I reached full boost in every gear cause I was so worried about traction.
