i got a 10 flat on bald tires and it was before i could drive well. so keep practicing man. ive hit 11's before. and if you have a standard press the clutch in, give it gas about 2.5-3k and dump the clutch while holding the brake with the same foot your pressing the gas with. heel and toe, as you progress as a driver, you will start heel and toeing, at every turn, if your like me and enjoy it.
heel and toe clutching/shifting is a good way to maximize traction while going around a corner fast, you slow down with the brake put the shifter in neutral, rev the engine and then put it in a lower gear, your car wont jerk half as much as if you were to just drop it a gear. try it out, you WILL like it

the way the pedals are set up on my mustang you would have to have a giants foot to heel toe it. if you are on street tires stay out of the water box, just go around it. do a small burn out just to clean the tires off, a long burn out on street tires wont help you out. keep practicing and the times will come down. atleast you had a good time out there

You can use the water box with street radials but just drive around it first then back into it with your rear wheels. Then heat your tires till they grab.

drive around the water box and then back up into it. the guy at the line should motion you where you need to be. then what you need to do is put it in 1st and hold the brake pedal, hit the gas and start your burnout. when the tires get spinnin' pretty good, shift it in to 2nd. you should keep it in 1st for about 2-3secs before shifting into 2nd. when you get a good bit of smoke, ease off the brake and let the car roll forward and slowly let off the gas while your rolling and you should feel the car "bite".

after that pull up till you see the top set of lights (pre-stage) come on. its usually courtesy to let the other guy pre-stage too before you stage. after that go ahead and inch forward some more and light up the stage lights, don't forget to put it back in 1st.

hold the foot brake down real good and very slowly push on the gas and bring the rpm's up to about 1500-2000 until you feel the tires barely want to break loose and hold it there until you see the last set of amber lights come on and jerk your foot off the brake and nail the gas then all you do is manually shift the gears and you should get alot better time.

Yeah until your tires squeal and grab. Its really important to make sure all the water is outta the treads. Sometimes I like to back into the water box and then after heating the tires shift over one foot so that it eliminates any chance of any water affecting my launch cause sometimes the front tires might catch some water too.

unless you are on drag radials i wouldnt go near the waterbox. street tires do not need to be heated that much.

Thats cool. I have tried both and using a little water helps me a little more cause it get the tire spinnin faster. Its just preference.
