Buick vs Ford shootout

Every year, the local Buick club sponsors a shootout with the Fords. I have participated the last 3 years and it is alot of fun. This year it is scheduled for October 27th at Thunder Valley Raceway in Noble, OK.

My car was selected to be on the shootout t shirts along with a GS and GN. I am pretty pumped about it

Bring your car and join in. Last year we had 104 Mustangs and 100 Buicks. The slowest cars don't get matched up but if you can run a 14 you will get paired up. I met a guy from the Wichita area a couple of weeks ago at the car show in Ark City. He has a turbo'd 96 Mystic Cobra. He said if he could get his car tuned he was coming down.

I am currently waiting on some parts to arrive so I get several things done to it. I doubt I will have it ready by that weekend but I will sure try. My friends friend has got a GN running over 20# of boost but hes having problems keeping it running. We are gonna try and get him running cause he really want to participate. Ill try and keep you up to date.

What was that turbo mystic cobra running?

He said he had several 10.95 passes IIRC. Had a very nice cage installed in it.

Gates open at 7:00 am but racing doesn't usually get going until around 8:30 or so. You are allowed 3 qualifying runs with your fastest time used. From the qualifying times, cars are ranked slowest to quickest and paired up. I believe the match races started around 2:00 last year.

It is very easy to find. Just south of Norman on I-35 take highway 9 east. There is an exit with a 4 lane that runs south to Noble. Come on we could use you. It is a great time and track prep is generally top notch for the event.

Dick Walker (one of the organizers for Buick vs Ford) told me that he has extended an invitation to KC Jones to exhibit and make some runs during some of our down time. KC has the jet dragsters, Cannonball Express and Cattanooga Choo Choo and will be an added attraction for our enjoyment.

congrast on getting your car on the shirt. pretty cool. im hoping ill be able to make it but i doubt i will. i dont have drag wheels and tires anymore and the nitrous is down for a bit......... anyways good luck and hopefully i can make it out.

Oct. 27th you say... If I am settled and work is smooth I'll do my best to make it. It's a pretty long haul, but I got a girl in Denton I can stay with for the night if I feel like, um... sleeping. Yeah, sounds like a plan. I'm not going to make any promises, hell my car might not even be running at the time... I'll deff. plan for it though.

yeah i did get into the 12's last friday. i iced the intake and it was just enough with a very good launch. looks like i'm out as my previous plans are still a go as of now.

I sold the old set of slicks I had to my buddy Kyle. I have another set but they are not mounted on anything yet. Hopefully, someone will have some solenoids laying around. I want to see that bitch in the low-mid 11s. That would be good enough to beat 90% of the buicks out there.

I hope Bob and 03R can make it.
