Which Model Mustang Has The Best Drag Strip Performance?
I know this is probably a no brainer but which model mustang is best on the drag strip? My guess is eather the new 5.4L or the old 5.0 but I might be wrong. Is there a model (such as the 4.6L) that is more easily customisable for the strip? Thanks for the input.

I believe the 07+ GT500 has the fastest 1/4 mile times for a production model Mustang, being only slightly ahead of the 03/04 Terminator Cobra Mustangs.

are u asking which stock mustang model has the best recorded drag times or are u asking which model has the best setup(drivetrain, suspension) for straightline racing?

I know about the GT500 lol im talking about the GT Models. No Cobras Saleens ect. i know how those stack up. I guess i want to know which model since the 80s has the best stock setup but that usually translates to better times anyway.

no mach ones there pretty much gts with a ram air and 2 more valves per head. other than that its all cosmetic. so no

Actually the late model Mach's have 320 ft-lbs of torque, as well as a nice, broad, powerband.
Bottom line: If you're looking to build a drag strip warrior, grab an old notch or Fox.

Can't beat the coupes for lightness and quickness with fewer dollars invested.
 I run 11.80's in the 1/4 with an Explorer motor, ported E7's and intake, E-cam and 100 shot. Pretty cheap too... I'll pick up some, maybe get into the high 10's with my new motor. |
