I got a new personal best in the Focus at Cecil County Dragway last night!

I need to work with the slicks some more before Import vs Domestic. I need to figure out the best tire pressure and best rpm to launch at. I only got two passes in last night at Cecil due to two cars blowing up and it taking 45 min for cleanup on each. This was the best of the two passes...

I am car #347

R/T: .202
60ft: 2.092
330: 5.655
1/8: 8.548
MPH: 84.32
1000: 11.073
1/4: 13.205
MPH: 105.81

^ This was my first pass on the slicks so it was purely experimental. I had them at 15psi and still barked them off the line. I have feeling once I get the tire pressure set just right and figure out a good launch point, I could see a 13.0 or even that beloved 12.9 in my future! I'd say that's quite a feat for a stock Duratec 2.0L economy motor on low boost.

I got a 12.94 @ 105mph with a 1.91 60ft two weeks ago. I backed it up last weekend at Import vs Domestic WCF with a 12.93 and 1.93 60ft. My first round of eliminations, it hooked hard and I got a 1.79 60ft. I was a good bit ahead of the Cobra I was racing so I let off at the other end for a 13.10 and the win. I'm wishing I had stayed in it now just to see that 12.7 or even 12.6 pass even though I would've broke out (12.90 dial).

Ended season with a 12.94@107.5 on stock tires, stock exhaust. I will work on that over the winter LT and a O/R Xpipe is next, the stock tires a spent so a set of better tires for the next race season.

This is my best run so far on 28" slicks. Car has full bolt ons with gears, minus longtubes. I don't think it's a bad time for being my second time racing. The car was bogging bad off the line so I know it's capable of a quicker time. Since this run I added a 100shot wet kit so hopefully when I go back I can get a mid twelve second or lower time slip. It's a 5 speed manual also.

60'=1.873
330'=5.658
1/8=8.804
MPH=80.75
1000=11.492
1/4=13.754

Nice mph. Get that 60' on down and it should go mid to low 11s. Back when I first bought mine and the eaton was still on it I went 11.5@120 on 18" nittos. It had a 1.70 60' on that pass. Nittos are tricky to launch on, but it can be done. On an 26x11.5 et street it went 11.0s with 1.5 60's. I had taken about 200lbs out of it on the 11.0 passes though.

yeah i want slicks but i need to work on the rear more before i drop money on the slicks, Im still on the stock IRS so im kind of scared to break things. The track i went to virtually had no prep, i had books and my backpack and laptop and stuff in the car along with a full tank of gas lol. My drag radials were inflated to like 35psi to lol. It was a decent day though at 60 degrees or so. Im working on it though. Thanks!!

I was on stock irs too at the time, but I believe the 03 irs is a little stronger if I remember correctly. A slick or any bias ply dot drag tire will actually be easier on the irs than a drag radial. The softer sidewall pretty much eliminates wheel hop and is more forgiving. Everything I've broken in my drivetrain has been on radials. Good luck on the lower ets.
